Multiple DOJ officials, including Ed Martin and Jonathan Gross, have promoted the idea of reparations for former Jan. 6 defendants.

One former Jan. 6 defendant, Jared Wise, was hired by the Trump DOJ. Wise called the police “Nazi” and “Gestapo” and urged rioters to “kill ‘em.”

In response to questions from Sen. Hirono, AG Bondi says she has not participated in discussions about setting up a “compensation fund” for former Jan. 6 defendants.

Bondi declined to answer whether she would approve such a fund.

Today is NPR's first day ever without the support of public funding. Thanks to everyone who has donated to your local stations. It means the world.

Today, the NPR shop also re-launched with a bunch of swag to help support us, too. I've always been partial to the 70s logo, myself.

It's a journalist's job to ask questions of government officials, no matter which party is in power. That often means respectfully knocking on doors to get answers people deserve to know.

Screenshot of post on X from VA Secretary Doug Collins. The text reads: @ProPublica is an extreme liberal news outlet that will do anything to make the Trump Administration look bad. But this week, the far-left editors there reached a new low by sending @VernalColeman to stalk @DeptVetAffairs employees at their homes. This creepy behavior will discourage good people from coming to work at VA. @ProPublica, please do better and stop letting your hatred of the Trump Administration continue to warp your judgment.

These comments are in keeping with Trump's track record on far-right extremism, including g telling the Proud Boys to "stand back and stand by" in 2020; issuing mass pardons to Jan. 6 rioters, even the most violent; and hiring at DOJ a Jan. 6 defendant who urged rioters to "kill" police.

EARHARDT: We have radicals on the right as well. How do we fix this country?

TRUMP: I'll tell you something that's gonna get me in trouble but I couldn't care less. The radicals on the right oftentimes are radical because they don't want to see crime. The radicals on the left are the problem.

Meet attorney Jonathan Gross.

He recently joined the Trump DOJ after representing multiple Jan. 6 defendants. He is now working with Ed Martin’s “Weaponization Working Group.”

In January, he compared the Jan. 6 prosecutions to the Holocaust.

Not really that unusual for D.C. to go seven consecutive days w/o a homicide. Happened in May and March (16 days, actually), last September, last August, last April, last March, last January. Plenty of 6-day stretches in there too. No homicides between 7/12 and 7/19 this year.

An NPR review of Gross’ social media and interviews found that he supported financial reparations for Jan. 6 defendants, posted conspiracy theories about the attack on the Capitol, and demanded “consequences” for Jan. 6 prosecutors.

Trump DOJ hired lawyer who compared Jan. 6 prosecutions to the Holocaust
Before joining the Justice Department this year, attorney Jonathan Gross said Jan. 6 prosecutors were "evil people. They will put you on a cattle car to Auschwitz without batting an eye."
