Heartened as I am to see Farage being repeatedly challenged on the racism that informs everything he is and everything he does it will only bolster his support. A large part of the appeal of Reform for their followers is the opportunity to be openly bigoted and prejudiced.

Never really properly listened to this but it's electric. Recorded in 3 days it's unsurprisingly reverent, the band are synced in tight and clearly enjoying themselves, Jagger's voice is raw and emotional and his harp howling. And, as always, Charlie's good tonight, innee.

Austerity has hollowed out this country. Everything is threadbare and creaking, if it functions at all.

Today's teatime tunes: have we had German exploito before? I don't believe we have. As with a lot of exploito, there's a great deal of fun and invention on this record.

Absolutely disgusting targeting staff. If this isn't a Christmas message then what is? Pathetic.

Pathetic cowardice.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Few things I enjoy more than the trend for including dogs in 17th Dutch church interiors.

Special shout out to Anthonie De Lorme who, along with De Witte, had a fondness for showing dogs urinating and defecating in the holy space.
Today's artist without a (known) birthday: Emanuel de Witte of Alkmaar. Painter of churches, markets, portraits. All-around great artist! Here, Nieuwe Kerk in Delft w/ tomb of William the Silent, 1656.
