thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.
now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

Alright I fucking wrote about this. It was apparently necessary to vent my rage about this this afternoon, because that took me two hours to get it all out and onto the page.

New month, new reminder that I am available for work! While I am actively seeking my next full-time home, I am also freelancing in the interim.
I have a decade of experience in criticism and features, and have edited full-time for major publications for the last six years.

Teen Vogue is (was??) one of the few outlets doing great political reporting. this fucking sucks.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.
certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

i love Bugonia, a fascinating companion piece to Eddington and not as nihilistic as an initial reading suggests (not mentioned in my review: it’s also in the “weird little freaks eating spaghetti” canon)
