the clear winner from my cross-town move is Ludo, who now has an apartment-sized cat tree
I’m sure Marty Reisman is a crazy dude, but this all gives off the same energy as movies like Catch Me If You Can or Wolf of Wall Street, where the IRL subjects were like “oh yeah I made a ton of that shit up”
The Ping-Pong Hustler Who Inspired ‘Marty Supreme’. “If Chalamet has found, in this role, an all-time character, it is surely in no small part because Reisman was an all-time character.” (Saw the movie; loved it.) [nytimes.com]
The Ping-Pong Hustler Who Inspired ‘Marty Supreme’
Volleying questions with the table tennis champ Marty Reisman, an inspiration for Timothée Chalamet’s new film, showed that he was a character in his own right.

I know this is corny to say but this is the real America, man. This is what it’s all about. This is what those freaks are trying to destroy & we won’t let them
Best TikTok thing going is the two dudes trying food from every country without leaving NYC. If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s incredible. My favorite so far is last week’s. Legit got me emotional.

ramen places should have to tell you on the menu if your bowl only comes with half an egg
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

This was such a strong attitude early on, Bsky has lot a lot of this ethos and we're all worse off for it
The lesson as always is block more people for less bad behavior and hope Bluesky kicks out more people over stupid bullshit, actually

Last week I slurped some very spicy ramen and a noodle whipped directly into my eye. I was flushing my eye at the table with water and napkins
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

😅

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

2025 was like the “Battlestar Galactica” episode where the Cylons attacked every 33 mins.It required adjusting our way of thinking, of fighting, our imagination & our willingness to take risks. It required asking people who had done a specific job a specific way for a long time to do it differently.

"AI is the asbestos in the walls of our technological society, stuffed there with wild abandon by a finance sector and tech monopolists run amok. We will be excavating it for a generation or more."

This piece on AI by Cory Doctorow is spectactular.

I am at a 3:30 Alamo showing of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, a movie I have already seen, which is the platonic ideal of an Alamo screening: I can order infinity Diet Cokes and get up to pee whenever I want and not worry about the caffeine keeping me up
