Yikes: the alternative TPUSA “All-American” Halftime Show had fewer than 14,000 views.

Watergate, but if someone was killed.
NYT confirming MS NOW reporting:

Prosecutors began investigating Renee Good's killing, then Washington told them to stop.

Federal prosecutors had a warrant to collect evidence from Good's vehicle, but Trump leaders said to drop it. About a dozen prosecutors have since departed.

"We simply do not care what you think about that"? This map will literally go to the voters for approval! It cannot take effect unless a majority of Virginians support it. This talking point is so stupid.

When Bezos first bought WaPo, I viewed this silly underground clock project as a sign of optimism for the paper. He was willing to waste tens of millions on a clock that symbolized long-term thinking; he had cash to burn, and he cared about his legacy. (link is to older story fyi)
Jeff Bezos just shared a new video of a giant $42 million mechanical clock designed to outlast the United States
The 500-foot tall clock, which Bezos is funding, is meant to keep time for 10,000 years.

Awful, idiotic, short-sighted decision. Arts coverage has flourished under Jon’s leadership. Too many fabulous packages to count. What is even left of the Post now? These layoffs are crushing.
I consider 2025 my finest professional year. The Post just laid me off.

I am so angry on behalf of everyone axed by the cretinous turds running the Washington Post today. The best sports section in America. A glittering international crew. It's the ruination of a precious thing by a principle-free rich man, and it makes me sick to my stomach.

growing up the Washington Post was like a trusted friend who taught me about the world, starting with my own backyard. I wouldn't be who I am without it, and watching this paper slowly die at the hands of the world's richest man feels like losing a loved one.
NEWS: The cuts were so severe that at least one department head asked to leave The Post rather than be included in the planning.

Peter Finn, The Post's international editor, requested that he be laid off once he learned about the scope of the cuts to his section.

I am beyond angry about what's happening at the Post today. A newspaper must not be a plaything for billionaires. This decision spits in the face of every DC native who cherished the Post, not to mention its incredible staff. Needless to say, my subscription is canceled.

Incredible. They destroyed a great newspaper because they hated the people who actually paid for it and read it so much that they'd rather scrap the paper if they couldn't get Tucker Carlson's audience bsky.app/profile/maxt...
Speaking to WaPo employees, editor Matt Murray says cuts are about “positioning ourselves to become more essential to people's lives, and what is becoming a more crowded, competitive and complicated media landscape, and after some years when, candidly, the Post has had struggles to do that."

An absolute disgrace — and it will produce an even larger disconnect between audience retention and the Washington Post brand.

They gutted this outlet and the only people who will emerge wealthier are the ones who gutted it.
WaPo's Matt Murray told staff the paper is shuttering sports, moving remaining staff to features, shrinking foreign coverage, restructuring metro, closing books coverage, suspending Post Reports podcast

“Whole company now waiting for a live or die email” one staffer said

Bezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests

Putting on my suit and tie and going on America Erwache to describe a 234 year old basic requirement of the constitution for lawful searches and seizures as a “nonstarter.”
Rep. Mark Harris: "Some of these things are nonstarters. Having judicial warrants? To me, hat's a nonstarter. Being able to make off their mask, putting them at risk? That's a nonstarter. I would say anything that's going to hamstring the work of ICE, that's just not going to go anywhere."

I never understood the fixation on Gawker—until just now.
we said all along that they wanted Gawker dead not because we embarrassed a pro wrestler but because the Epstein story is one Gawker was covering a decade before most other people caught up & was just one of many stories exposing powerful people and their misdeeds
