Remember: Elon Musk saw a man distributing child sexual abuse material on Twitter, and insisted that the team restore that man's account on the service, and begin *paying that person to be on the service*. The person who distributed the abuse material is still on there, and Musk follows him.
I realize we’re in a post-truth environment, but: I cannot understand how the fact that the platform run by Changpeng Zhao—the crypto billionaire recently pardoned by Trump—was serving to money-launder for Hamas, Al Qaeda, and ISIS, has not taken on greater salience.

In contemporary authoritarian regimes, they don’t ban dissenting voices—they have regime affiliated oligarchs buy up the big outlets and force out opposition voices.

Anyway:
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
Or maybe this is another example of "my racism is backfiring in a way I couldn't have predicted."
(Or that if Trump did in fact raise the issue while campaigning, what made her think he is a very, very honest person who never lies or betrays.)

Corporates going from “no impact” on earnings calls to “please help” is the ultimate sentiment shift.

China is moving toward banning them, and the company has already said it would redesign them, how much more investigating does it take to determine that not opening in a crash and burning people alive is a design defect?
The relevant question here is: what the hell does she think were the indicators, pre-election, that made her conclude Trump wants to help the country with things like food insecurity?

Propaganda is very effective.
Longtime Trump supporter: “I think deep down he wants to help the country with things like food insecurity.”

(Trump enacted the largest cuts to SNAP in history a few months ago)

Now says she regrets voting for Trump and wishes a Democrat were president to “protect benefits [Trump] wants to cut.”
I know nothing about the U.S. political system, but if a president (or ex-president, when their term ends) can't be held accountable for things like this, my guess is that you don't live in a democracy but in an autocracy.
President Donald Trump said he knows nothing about Binance founder Changpeng Zhao — or that company’s recent involvement in a cryptocurrency venture linked to Trump’s family — despite granting him a pardon last month.

Investors either believe Tesla being the top company selling humanoid robots and competing with Uber/Waymo on robotaxis is a much bigger business than leading the transition from gasoline fueled cars to EVs, or that it’s a meme stock.

Which do you think it is?

I have no idea how "superintelligence" pilled Zuckerberg is but the strategy, to me, looks like supercharging of what Facebook's business has always been: more surveillance, more targeting, more ads

Meta is essentially letting advertisers spam its own platforms. Because it costs essentially nothing to make shitty variations of GenAI ads, companies can make hundreds or thousands of variations of ads and run them all on the platforms. The ineffective ones simply aren't shown to lots of people

whenever I point out that propaganda works really well and is really effective, there's inevitably people who say "but there's more sources of news than ever online," as if it's easy peasy for barely educated Americans to dissect which source of info is being truthful in an ocean of bullshit
A large majority of U.S. adults now get news digitally, but nondigital news consumers are less likely to say they extremely often or often encounter inaccurate news.

Read more on Americans’ views of information accuracy and distinguishing truth from fiction:
Many Americans say they often come across inaccurate news – and have a hard time knowing what’s true
Those who report often encountering inaccurate news are more likely than those who rarely or never do to say it’s hard to know what is true (59% vs. 31%).

The dictator granted a friendly interview to the compromised media organization that bribed him. They edited out his most incendiary comments and presented a sanitized version of the dear leader to sell him to a nation wildly disapproving of his abuse of the rule of law.

So, it cost less than it should because of the president's lies?

This is so fishy.

Q: Americans have been watching videos of ICE tackling a young mother, tear gas being used in a Chicago residential neighborhood, and the smashing of car windows. Have some of these raids gone too far?"
