Paging Louis Pasteur! Louis Pasteur, please pick up any courtesy phone.
This is bonkers. MAHA 'farmers' with ecoli tainted raw milk admit they really don't know how to make the stuff after all.

"Producing raw milk takes careful planning from a facility and infrastructure standpoint. Unfortunately, we learned this after the fact."

I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

Ah, this seems to be crux:

"in an attempt to lower costs, USPS recently began eliminating evening mail pickups from post offices more than 50 miles away from a regional processing facility, which are mostly located in or around major cities."

Just because we’re those kinds of nerds. If we both didn’t have to work tomorrow, my wife and I would be headed to Erie to observe the seiche and the waves.

Nothing like having to make an impromptu dishwasher repair after Christmas dinner. Slow drip at the supply line connection. I’ll replace the line Saturday when I actually have time to deal with it.

Other than that, an overall good day with my wife and daughters. Good food and family togetherness.

Tried making a cake this morning while we were waiting for the 23yo and her boyfriend to arrive. I deflated the egg whites when I tried folding them in, so it’s very thin. We have hundreds of cookies so I’ll make it again after Christmas. Just thankful to have the kids here for the day.

33 years in, this, from Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” sticks with me every year, now more than ever- “This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased.”

Since the RnRHoF induction, I’ve been thinking a little about Warren Zevon. By all accounts, he wasn’t a conventionally nice person but he was an amazing composer and musician. I’ve always loved his music and I appreciate what he produced while he was alive.

Since it’s happening Saturday into Sunday, I’m assuming the city will ignore this snow storm as much as humanly possible. Which is great for those of us who have to work over the weekend.

We got our tree on Monday. Tonight we added lights and ribbon. Also hung a garland in the opening between the living room and the next room over(I never know what to call it. My wife put up the battalion of nutcrackers Thanksgiving week. It’s slowly beginning to look like the holidays.

Went out for a walk and a couple quick geocaches after we dropped the temperature on the turkey. Returned not even an hour later to find that the turkey is running well ahead of schedule.

Running errands and prepping for dinner tomorrow. We’re having dinner with friends later, as we’ve come to do every year on the night before Thanksgiving. We’re all too old to brave going out, and besides the kids are home from school.

Yesterday’s drive east across the PA Turnpike was probably the worst we’ve had in years. Driving rain almost the entire time with tons of road spray and fairly heavy traffic. Paired with doing it in a rental suv that we’re not used to, it sucked. I was exhausted when we got to my MIL’s.

Vaccine preventable diseases literally KILL CHILDREN, there is NO EVIDENCE they cause autism & the fact that we’re even having this conversation in 2025 would be a FUCKING JOKE if it didn’t mean that kids who can’t help the fact that their parents are making BAD DECISIONS are ACTUALLY GOING TO DIE.

I have survived Friendsgiving 2025. We had 8 other adults in our house and no one burst into flames and no one’s feelings got hurt, including mine.

It was a wonderful time with great friends and good food, laughter, and commiseration over the state of the world.
