Elite level transcontinental public transport racer. Yes, that is a thing. One-time University Challenge team captain. Also a cook, cargo bike evangelist, and a centrist papa.

This. Constraint and accountability for using military force start closest to home. Advisers and members of the president’s party. Doesn’t have to be a vote, doesn’t have to be public. But there’s no constraining without it. War is an Insiders’ Game.
The absence of any public pushback from the Republican Party on a situation as insane as Trump is rapidly reaching on Greenland is itself a huge sign of how far gone the US already is.

Stepped on an electrical plug (European one with fairly round prongs), only noticed it had gone through my foot when I tried a step and dragged the cable it was attached to along with me. Ouch.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

😅

I was at a festival enjoying a pre crazy Kanye and Jay-Z concert, about 25m away from a VIP moshpit with Beyonce in it who was papped with someone who looked just like me, but was not me.
Please quote this with the time you didn’t interact with someone famous - eg one time I was in Cardiff the same weekend as Willem Dafoe (but I didn’t see him or even know he was there until he appeared on the telly later)
Please quote this with your major interactions with massive celebrities. eg “I was married to the pope for fifteen years”

@jim.londoncentric.media If this doesn't get people donating blood, I don't know what will. A conventional multipack of mini cheddars contains 23g servings, but the ones you get post-donation are a shrinkflation busting 35g. Get the word out!

"Away in" is just the English translation of "Pret."
Time for my annual close-reading-the-carol-sheet question: what does the "Away" in "Away in a Manger" actually mean?

I now know more about the UK artificial tree market than I'd ever expected.
OK, fairly deranged question really, but does anyone know how you’d go about getting a giant indoor artificial tree like this built in a primary school library as a reading hub? I’ve raised some funds for this and don’t know if you go off the shelf, get a set designer (do you know one?) or whatever.

Fun little online game if you fancy a public transport challenge across Europe without the hours at freezing bus stops: how fast can you get from Inverness to the Rock of Gibraltar with £500 to spend? (I’ve managed 1 day 22hrs 10min and had to walk up the Rock having run out of money) geo-racers.com

The BBC censoring criticism of Trump from one of their Reith Lectures is seriously worrying.

The Liberal Democrats have written to the BBC Director General Tim Davie urging him to stand firm against Trump’s bullying and broadcast the lecture in full.

Farage can now be easily boxed in to a corner where his only ‘defence’ becomes: “Yes I spouted Kremlin propaganda & Putin worship but, unlike Nathan Gill, I didn’t need bribes to do it.”
It is, once again, a question of whether interviewers have the temerity to shut down his whining obfuscations.

The sheer greasy desperation from these bastards that any violent crime is committed by an immigrant so they can continue their grift. Even when they know it isn't true. Foul.
Matt Goodwin attributes a crime that he now knows appears to have been committed by people born in Britain in the early 1990s to "mass uncontrolled immigration"

Shamefully, Labour abstained!
Liberal Democrat MPs just defeated Nigel Farage’s Bill in Parliament to tear up people’s rights and withdraw from the ECHR.

Farage wants to do away with the Britain Churchill built and turn it into Trump's America. We won't let him.
