Gaza: Two children killed every day during fragile ceasefire, says UNICEF
Ongoing attacks and airstrikes attributed to Israeli forces in Gaza continue to kill and maim people of all ages in the shattered enclave despite an agreed ceasefire, UN agencies said on Friday.

Brexit is the reason today’s Budget squeezes families, yet the government is still shuffling towards solutions that demand real urgency. We need far bolder steps back towards the single market if we want future budgets that lift people up rather than drain them.
Baby steps won’t fix Brexit or the Budget
There is a way to get back a much bigger slice of the money Brexit has cost us. By getting the UK back into the EU single market.

Proud to see London is fast becoming a cycling city ⤵️

📈 Daily journeys are 12% up from last year to 1,500,000 trips
📈 Up by more than 40% since 2019

This is just the start, we’ll continue working with partners to improve safety and invest in more routes.

Robbie Gibb said if he doesn't get his way, he'll blow the BBC up. It's ridiculous that a man like that has a spot on the BBC's board. Our public broadcaster MUST be independent. Agree? Sign to get Gibb sacked:

This is exactly what the recent Trump-BBC 'scandal' was designed to achieve. The BBC is now self-censoring criticisms of Trump in the name of "impartiality"
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

This sentence was taken out of a lecture they commissioned, reviewed through the full editorial process, and recorded four weeks ago in front of 500 people in the BBC Radio Theatre.

I was told the decision came from the highest levels within the BBC. /2

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

🔥 Rachel Reeves says there’s a “hole” in the public finances.

A new decade-long Brexit study quantifies it:

A 6–8% hit to GDP

That's £180bn-£240bn a year

It means less tax revenue and so less money for everything.

Brexit made Britain MUCH poorer.

Nearly ten years on, the first full assessment of Brexit confirms what millions warned: Britain made itself poorer

So everyone local life shortened by the choking air pollution from the fossil fuelled power plant built to run this site: we know it's for shit like this
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

We also have to restore degraded ecosystems. We need to protect the natural cycling of carbon within the climate system. Beyond that enhancing carbon drawdown would help, but I honestly struggle to see how it will scale 5/6

It’s incredibly distressing to watch the UK threaten to give up what small measure of generosity & social commitment was left from the postwar understanding of common good. It was one of the few things that made me feel patriotic.

Compare and contrast the Government language.

£3,750 EV grant on a £35k car: ‘helping families’.

Cycle to Work: ‘subsidising leisure’.

And yet cycling delivers TEN TIMES the impact of electric cars for reaching net zero. It’s almost like narrative, not data, is driving policy.
