Meissner: "I am hopeful the pediatricians will continue to administer the birth dose w/in the 1st 24 hrs after delivery and before discharge from hospital. I think to follow any other course is not in the interest of the infant, as we've repeatedly said. There is no evidence of harm." #acip

This is not in line with the best science we have if we want to protect babies from hep B 🧪
ACIP has voted 8-3 to change the infant vaccination schedule for hepatitis B. Meissner, Hibbeln, Pollack voted no. Here's the language.

People don't get sucked in by information for funsies, or because they're not smart 🧪
Confusion around vaccines rarely comes from a lack of caring. It comes from the sheer volume of conflicting claims people encounter every day. And when misinformation spreads faster than evidence, straightforward explanations become essential. Here, we address common vaccine myths.

I'll be live posting from the #ACIP meeting today. #Follow me for all the play-by-play. They will vote today on whether to recommend restricting the birth dose of hepatitis B vaccines, which have reduced infections by 99%. Most likely, they will vote to limit this vaccine.

Where are my #ACIP folks today???

Useful summary here (from yesterday) to ground you in the coming news + conversations about vaccine access
1/ Tomorrow, #ACIP —the external advisory committee that guides U.S. vaccine policy—will meet for two days. Thursday’s agenda will focus on Hepatitis B (Hep B). We’re expecting to hear a few falsehoods to start circulating along with some unsupported safety concerns. Here’s what you should know 👇

Been thinking sooooo much about how AI is gonna affect us (individually & at a societal level). Like — what's the impact gonna be if we hand a crap ton of our writing off to the robots?? Appreciated this piece from @theconversation.com on writing and resilience

theconversation.com/writing-buil...
Writing builds resilience by changing your brain, helping you face everyday challenges
Resilience is often presented as feats of bravery and endurance. But everyday practices like journaling, drafting a text or even writing a to-do list are manifestations of a capacity to adapt.

Years ago, my colleagues at Business Insider and I tracked YouTuber “cancellation” arcs. What we found is that for many entertainers, “cancellation” actually sets the stage for a redemption arc, one that can raise their profile higher than ever. It wasn’t career-ending. It was fuel.

Another thing, the bar for a sex pest is not whether they can give us good material! It's did they make honest redress for their harm, did they show remorse, do victims feel satisfied with their efforts to not be a sex pest. Not can they still perform.
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Apropos of nothing: I recently learned that if you're in the EU and your flight is canceled, consumer protections could require the airline to pay you *additional* compensation on top of rebooking, hotel, etc. Especially if the flight is canceled less than two weeks in advance.
