I want to have more local model inference but I don’t want to buy a “computer” with a “gpu” for it. Who is making a NAS-like home inference appliance?

Heated seats!
Cars were better when you didn't need a subscription to turn on your heated seats or when companies couldn't literally throttle your engine output/power without paying a subscription fee! That kind of rent seeking makes products worse and makes them want when products didn't do that.

Why don’t people get as mad about labels as they do for blocklists?

Somebody tell them how to alt?
literally who cares!! they can stay on the platform, they can not look up their blocklists and they can focus their attention on an audience that wants to listen to them
Blocking hatemongers is one thing but this trend of using mass block lists to avoid hearing from people who might or might not hold points of view you expect to disagree with is unhealthy imo and hurts the platform.

Bluesky was better off with folks like Margaret Mitchell and Giada Pistilli on it.

No, I’m not okay. I watched a man cut me off and smile like civilization hadn’t already collapsed. The lines on the asphalt don’t even mean anything anymore — they’re just suggestions for people who still believe in order.

Someone should invent a social media website with the covert revolutionary cell organization from The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress where you can only join by invitation and you can only have 3 friends, max

Someone should invent a social network website that shows other people the words you actually posted instead of whatever the other people had already decided you meant

Facial recognition is a highly unethical technology that has been completely normalized and it’s so much more dangerous than chatbots
New: Videos show ICE/CBP agents are scanning peoples' faces on the street to verify citizenship. ICE has tool to instantly look up unprecedented number of databases with just a photo

“I’m an American citizen so leave me alone”

“Alright, we just got to verify that”
