I'm a horror author and member of the HWA. You can find me active here, and occasionally on Slasher. I have a short story published in Splat Magazine Issue #3 (on sale now), and another through MISHMASHERS (TBD). Feel free to reach out with any questions 😁

It's been about a year since I got my hands on the physical copy of my first ever published story, and it's wild now seeing my monster come to life in a couple different ways! Thanks again @oddoblivion.bsky.social they're perfect! 😊

Same. Frankly, I can’t imagine any situation where using an LLM to generate text would not make writing the book take ten times as long.
In case it doesn't go without saying: I have not used gen AI to create text in any of my books. I have not used Grammarly etc to "clean up" the text. I have not used it to research any of my books, except where it might be built into search engines under the hood (I do not use labelled AI results).

…so as we were saying, HAIL THE BRAVE NEW WEIRD AWARDS!
Human art only. Fuck AI🚫🤖
Another Nebula Awards nomination cycle is in full swing, and the addition of poetry and comics, along with the presence of LLMs in industry, required careful consideration.

Read on, and vote well!

We trust our voters & look forward to what they choose to celebrate.

Therapy is great man. There's so much stuff going wrong in my life, so much stuff up in the air, and so while driving my first thought was "One day I won't have to try so hard. One day I'll walk out, sit in my chair, and I'll enjoy the rain again.", and then I thought better of it and thought--

Technology is a vast graveyard of things that were "here to stay." It's not only a crazy thing to say, it's dumb and willfully ignorant
“Love it or hate it it’s here to stay” is a crazy thing to keep saying about a technology. If people don’t like using something it doesn’t have to stay we’re not talking about bad weather here

Once again, how do republicans care about kids outside of pedophilia and as slaves for the work force?
LOSES?!?!?!!?!

No.

HHS canceled grants previously awarded to AAP — in what certainly looks like a retaliatory act.

"Here's proof we're not discriminating, and that we're hiring a diverse staff. This helps to ensure that we're not discriminatory in our publishing whether maliciously or through ignorance."

AFL: "That's racist."

I grew up in Arkansas with little access to media beyond Christian propaganda. I was at the video rental every weekend. In the early 2000s, a neighbor had a computer—I began pirating queer music and movies. Stories became my escape from a place I didn’t belong. I wanted to make stories like that.
With all this awful news going on i wanna ask this question once again to fellow artists and general creatives. What got YOU into art? what sparked that motivation to start writing? what made you wanna pick up a camera and start taking pics? Like share with us your reasons.

Good to know I can just avoid anything made by Larian now. Having trouble choosing a new game? Have too many options? Just start looking at which companies are pushing A.I. bullshit, cut them out of the equation and suddenly you'll find the true gems you were looking for.
Standing up for the jobs of concept artists--a job that was already wildly underappreciated and hellish to get into *before* this AI shit--is a battle worth picking, you braying jackass
this shit, despite its faults, is not going anywhere and people are going to have to pick their battles

It just kinda happened. I was shy, and didn't really understand how to fit in with people or why other people were just handed attention. I loved horror and scifi, and video games/TV/books were always there when I was bored and lonely. I constantly had stories in my head and so it just seemed ---

Do we start getting rid of white kids because they keep shooting up schools? How about releasing the Epstein files and then denaturalizing, and deporting any of the pedophiles on it? How about we attack rape culture next and start denaturalizing and deporting sexual assault offenders?
A million Muslims live in New York City. We belong here, as does every other New Yorker.

This is vile Islamophobia from the Councilwoman and it has no place in our city.
