Kind Hearts & Coronets is so, so good.

So many drily funny lines with great Dennis Price delivery. Eg. -

"I must admit he exhibits the most extraordinary capacity for middle age that I've ever encountered in a young man of twenty-four."

Was relistening to the You Must Remember This season on Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons, and there was a whole thing about an angry racist fandom letter campaign (instigated by Hopper) against… Gone With the Wind over casting a Brit as Scarlett. It’s always been like this.

I always think of either Ron or Ira Behr’s response to people who loved “Trials and Tribble-ations” and wanted more like it. Essentially it was: we’ve done it. It was special, but to do it again would make it less special. And it’s not where our show lives.

Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

“Why don’t the DS9 characters tell us what the Enterprise is up to in the Dominion War?!” is fundamentally the same complaint as “Why don’t Superman and Lois every talk about heroes who belong to another show?”

“I may be disappointed more people don’t like the choice we made, but that doesn’t change my opinion of what we did” is another quote I want to bronze/steal.

This second AOL interaction is Ron Moore responding to a fan upset with Kirk’s death in GENERATIONS.

In responding Ron gets to have his say about how killing off a character doesn’t mean a writer doesn’t respect a character. (This is a frequent charge against writers in these situations)

"i'm raging against the machine by stealing this book from an online portal that stole a bunch of books"

counterpoint, no you're not. you're in denial and you sound really dumb.

You are not allowed to think of yourself as an anti-capitalist hero if you steal books. No. You can get books for free in any number of ways that still allows us to eke out (insufficient) livings. If you're not going to do that, just admit that you don't give a shit. At least let's have some truth.
