US Department of War imprisoned my g-grandma’s dad and his family in Fort Snelling after Dakota Conflict in 1862. That is where ICE is currently based out of Whipple Bldg in Minneapolis.
She died in 1978, I am in my 50s. She made my wacipi regalia.

That facility sits near the center of all things. Our Dakota creation at Bdote. My Mdewakantowan ancestors were imprisoned at Ft Snelling in 1862. Many were killed on forced march to the fort. Over the winter, disease took more before being exiled by train/steamboat to starve at Crow Creek in SoDak.

Feeling extra privileged that I got to go to #MAGFEST 🌈🦇🎮 So many concerts and cosplayers + artists. The Queer Witches with Disabilities meetup I hosted in the MAGPIE Nest (Music and Gaming Place for Inclusion and Equity) was well attended and folks had fun drawing Exquisite Forms.

Been drawing on index cards any chance I get. Keeping a stack in my hip pouch instead of a sketchbook. Self portrait cartoons are a way to reflect on how you are feeling in the moment, or how you imagine yourself to be perceived. Highly recommend.

My partner is nostalgic about Christmas so I'm going along & enjoying it. The Winter Solstice is more my excitement this week tho, and getting to see family and eat great food is something I am very thankful for. I try not to take it for granted fr.
