From Moose Jaw Saskatchewan and dumb as a stump. Nothing says summer like an afternoon drunk!
I guess. I grew up at that same time, maybe a little older but I never felt, outside of Reservoir Dogs, that he made a complete movie as opposed to a collection of random scenes, some of which were excellent. As a storyteller I found him lacking.

“we would just win if we could break the laws of war” is terminal GWOT brain. its sacrificing your capacity to fight conventional wars to win asymetric fights against insurgents who dont matter bsky.app/profile/fwor...
It's almost as if militaries have understood this intuitively for centuries and that's why the law of war is what it is! But no, these assholes have to reinvent everything and do it badly.

And yet I don’t understand the hype associated with him? He’s crafted some great scenes but his movies become a parody of themselves by the midway mark. His glorification of cartoonish violence is a complete turnoff for me. It just becomes too much.

Today’s Germans didn’t murder Jews, today’s Japanese didn’t bomb Pearl Harbor, and today’s Americans didn’t land on D-Day. Of course we all inherit the world made by those who did, but we can’t take personal credit or blame for it.
