Feels like we are speed-running toward some sort of global implosion, so I will continue to deal with that by sharing cute dog photos/videos. Today's photo comes to you courtesy of my sister, who has a 6 y.o. "golden mix" with short leg syndrome (an actual thing) + a BIG 3 m.o. lab...😍

Well F*xk. What is Adobe doing now...?

If this is some sort of pivot leaning as hard as possible into AI + data (of course it is) I'm going to scream.

Time to start learning alternatives to the (6) creative suite programs I've used for the last 15 years. God, I need such a good long cry. 😭

One thing I'll say for Target: They are laying out a very informative roadmap of what *not* to do for any other brand willing to watch and learn. Build back goodwill community by community? Nah, let's try the lamest gimmicks. Gimmicks that make it feel like 1996 again!

Everything is down, but Bluesky is up, so here's 1 minute of footage of my pup from a year ago, taste-testing various crunchy snacks. Feel free to bookmark it for later today, when our feed is inevitably overrun by *more* things that light tiny fires in the sockets where our eyeballs used be.

Scrolling through cable channels after school as a tween/teen helped me run across so much I would have otherwise totally missed out on...old movies on TCM, indie movies on AMC, classic comedy specials, MST3K, A&E's Biography, edgy cartoons, Weather on the 8's taught me how to meditate/self-soothe.
I'm gonna say something controversial but... I miss cable. I miss being able to put a channel on the TV and have it change shows. Even the commercials for some reason I miss. Like im missing out on society.

SOS 🚨 Parents of 13-ish year olds: I have kind of a “main” XMAS present for my nephew, but am looking for something else just fun/silly (bonus if it could actually have some usefulness too 😅) - have you found anything wildly fun or interesting this year?

GAH! I would lovvvve to see these props in person. Also highly recommend the book Designing Graphic Props for Filmmaking by Annie Atkins - great fun! I have bookmarked many a page for reference.

I can't even begin to convey how much time I would spend staring at these, watching for any sign of unexpected movement, if I lived in a residence with this type of ornamentation.
There are few things I love more than a bonkers ass door surround on a residential entrance. Going hard AF just for the love of the game.

My dog has learned how to maneuver a pill out of any surrounding treat in such a way as to maximize the amount of salami/turkey/cheese/peanut butter bread he receives, and I am honestly a little proud of him for it. You get those snacks, bud.

Apropos of nothing: Working retail is such a thankless job - I did it before, during & after college, and 20 years later I still wake up in cold sweats from retail nightmares. But...there are times I can still hear the "Ka-CHUNK" or "Ka-CHING!" of these, and I have to say...fun machines to use!

I have *never* understood this approach. They all choose the most corporate-speak, milquetoast slogans - for what? No one likes them. They don't mean *anything* + cost millions. Ask students instead.

"HA! then it would be something like '6 7...'"

Can anyone argue that's worse than "Vital We Are"?
What's the worst university slogan you've ever heard?

Asking on behalf of an unnamed uni that coined "Work. With Flexibility" for a major internal reorg, & has now spent many millions on consultants who--after polling such finalists as "Vital We Are"--has settled on "Next, Forward to Our Future"

Every detail of this marketing visual makes it top-tier humor.
Is there a spit take emoji? Because if not, there really needs to be one for cases like this.

There is a new kind of ad on a few of the larger websites I follow that abruptly resizes the whole browser window mid-scroll and starts playing a full-screen video ad and it's *such* a terrible experience.

Drat. My pup brought a case of kennel cough home with him from dog daycare (despite being fully vaccinated). Antibiotics + 10 days at home and indoors as much as possible. Vet said it's going around, so something to keep in mind with upcoming holidays, pet-havers. 🐾

Fannie Mae is in the headlines, IG is an endless feed of influencers hawking Amazon hauls, my inbox is full of early Black Friday sales, everything seems to be running on vibes, The Office is back on TV (as The Paper) and that Burry guy is big shorting again. The ghost of 2008 creeps ever closer.

Update:
Because Holman airfield has international flights they must have a customs office.
The building project reported by the city is a replacement of an existing customs office.
I have seen no indication that this project is anything other than a replacement for a very old facility.
I reached out to federal delegation to get some answers on this project. It’s a surprise and a very unwelcome one.

No home for ICE and CBP in Saint Paul.
From a St Paul Dept of Safety and Inspections email: construction permit for a new $11m CBP building construction permit at 670 Bayfield Street next to the downtown StP airport. Note location right near the runways. "Great" place to deport from! @mollycoleman.bsky.social @melvincarter.bsky.social

So I posted about this in the MH FB groups (I hate FB, but neighborhood groups give SUCH insight into where one lives). Anyway, a few shared that MAC and CBP have been planning a new customs facility at STP to replace an extra small existing facility since 2022 due to volume.
