Just screened the upcoming movie ANNIVERSARY. I'm embargoed from telling you what I thought of it, but I will say it would make an interesting double feature with ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. youtu.be/Uk6LhwvTYrE?...

Apparently, AMC Theaters is making its own horror movie. I'm curious!

TRUTH & TREASON tells the true story of a 16-year-old boy who took on Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. This is a movie whose message could not be more relevant to our modern world. It's in theaters nationwide this week.

In fact, I recently had a publicist ask me to review an indie movie that came out over the summer because it was one review away from being "Certified Fresh" at RT.

Not caring about RT scores, I declined.

I get this all the time and it always makes my skin crawl a little bit. As someone who runs an independent website, making me feel generic is not the way to elicit a review.

I don't always reply to the pitches I receive from publicists (because I have a job that I do and if I did, I would never get to do my job). But here is a tip for aspiring publicists: Critics do not "write a Rotten Tomatoes review." No critics do this.

I just screened an upcoming Holocaust drama, and it was one of those things where all the German characters spoke with British accents. Why do they do that? Are there no good German actors?

VICIOUS: Dakota Fanning is terrific and there are definitely some creepy scenes, but I think it would have worked better had the script been a little more developed and less reliant on cliches. A passable time-killer, just don't expect to be bowled over. (Streaming on Paramount+)

RED EYE because it brings his gift for creating suspense to a completely different genre and type of story.

What do you think is Wes Craven’s best film that isn’t part of the A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET or SCREAM franchises?

I feel like everyone will have a different answer and that’s really interesting to me.

Just saw ORWELL: 2+2=5, a riveting documentary that's part biography of "1984" author George Orwell and part look at how prescient his ideas were to the state of the world today. In fact, it's eerie how well he predicted where we would end up. Definitely one of 2025's must-see docs.

A new weekend brings new movies. Check out my reviews of TRON: ARES, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, SOUL ON FIRE, ARE WE GOOD? and DEATHSTALKER at AisleSeat.com.

I have a feeling TRON: ARES is the last time we'll see Jared Leto headlining a major studio release. At this point, he's got too much baggage from his creepy/inappropriate behavior. His career will probably be straight-to-VOD action flicks with 50 Cent or Jason Patric from now on.

TRON: ARES is worth seeing in a theater just to hear that incredible Nine Inch Nails score booming out of the Dolby surround speakers.

Here's my review: aisleseat.com/tron-ares.html

I've been a major TRON fan ever since 1982, so of course I had to buy one of these light-up TRON: ARES popcorn buckets from AMC.

How's that for a wild lineup?

To get blood from the flying monkeys out of your clothing, I guess?

Just watched the documentary LILITH FAIR: BUILDING A MYSTERY on Disney+/Hulu. Really enjoyed it. I'm a two-time Lilth Fair attendee and the film reminded me of what a joyous event it was both times I went.

The remake of DEATHSTALKER recreates the magic of being a teenager in the 1980s and stumbling across a violent fantasy flick on HBO in the middle of the night.
