I haven't done a Screen Unseen because usually they show movies that have already been screened for me, but this is a fascinating peek behind the curtain that makes me want to try it sometime. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...
Behind AMC’s “Screen Unseen” Mystery Movie Screenings: “Studios See the Chatter and Want That”
The theater chain's popular series of unannounced pre-release showings keeps audiences frantically guessing — and studios scrambling to get in on the buzz.

I just cast my first-round ballot for this year's Critics Choice Awards. She's probably a longshot given that the movie bombed, but I'm really hoping Sydney Sweeney is up for Best Actress in CHRISTY.

Big surprise coming from me, I know, but Chevy Chase:

The whole VACATION series, both FLETCHes, CADDYSHACK, FOUL PLAY, SPIES LIKE US, THREE AMIGOS, NOTHING BUT TROUBLE, MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN...all movies I can watch again and again and not get sick of. Bonus: L.A.STORY for his cameo.
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

When I tell people I'm a film critic, the immediate response is almost always, "Is that all you do?"
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

I opened up a package that arrived today and it's filled with orange MARTY SUPREME ping pong balls. That's very funny, but what am I supposed to do with them all? 😂

Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal star in HAMNET, which allegedly tells the story of how William Shakespeare created one of his most beloved works. To see or not to see; that is the question!

The problem with TNT doing "24 hours of NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION" is that I could sit and watch the entire thing.

Well, THE PLAGUE is certainly one of the most disturbing movies I've seen in a while. It's 98 minutes of pure discomfort.

Just screened SONG SUNG BLUE, and it reminded me that I really don't care for Neil Diamond's music. (Not a criticism of the film itself, which is fine.)

I didn't realize he has a long history of posting inflammatory stuff on social media. What a disappointment.

Just screened IS THIS THING ON? Not sure if I'm allowed to talk about it yet, but it does make me wonder: Do stand-up comedians still say, "Is this thing on?" when they're bombing?

Well, this is a first. Benedict Cumberbatch's new movie THE THING WITH FEATHERS was such an unpleasant experience that I had to write a shorter than normal review because remembering it was simply too depressing.

Like a lot of people, my favorite Thanksgiving movie is PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES.

My *second* favorite, though? THE ICE STORM.

I just saw SIRĀT. What a harrowing film. Certain aspects of it reminded me of William Friedkin's SORCERER. Should be a major awards player in the foreign-language film categories.

WAKE UP DEAD MAN is not just another sparkling entry in the KNIVES OUT franchise, it's also one of the most sincerely religious films I've ever seen.

Just saw HAMNET. I'm going to let it simmer for a while before expressing an opinion, but I will say that I *totally* understand why some people absolutely love it and others completely despise it.
