Wish I remembered that mod was a thing when originally recording the video! Someone in the replies back then also brought it up and I can doubly confirm that it actually plays surprisingly well for a port made in a vacuum

that one video from 2021 that (I think?) gave me the only sliver of cred in quake 1 community that I'm coasting on to this day
