There was already Linux and Mac support back on release, this is likely an updated version of it:
"The Linux and macOS distributions now use SDL3 instead of SDL1"
Original porter @icculus.icculus.org is also listed in the "patch also includes contributions from" section so that's neat

things i nervously blurt out when someone asks me where their files that they left with me for safekeeping are, after remembering that I accidentally dropped them on the floor with a cartoony glass break sound effect

And (most likely, imo, etc) Bitstream's version of Electra known as Transitional 521 for Silent Hill 4 as it has matching quirks that differ from Monotype's version of Electra (much closer f and i to Bitstream's with i's dot being more off center)

Better (?) comparison bsky.app/profile/beko...

Most fonts on GF are under SIL OFL, which has this in their FAQ (and also a lot have sources available and mirrored elsewhere):

"8.7 Does the OFL have an explicit expiration term?
No, the implicit intent of the OFL is that the permissions granted are perpetual and irrevocable."

FWIW there have already been alternatives / cousins for years, paid options from competing Morisawa (CinemaLetter) and Dynacomware (DFCinemaRin), one from defunct K.K. Kinema Font Lab (Cinema Calligraphy, top of quoted thread), and a completely commercially free option Cinecaption at the very least
As can be guessed from the name, this font tries to replicate a feeling of older handwritten subtitle cards, similar to Dynacomware's DFCinemaRin and more well-known Fontworks' NewCinema, with some users conflating the two, which was made even worse by Deadly Premonition 2 actually using NewCinema.

haven't tested with the merged anniversary version and not even sure if the link still actually works as catbox has been really spotty recently if not also outright blocked here but still files.catbox.moe/8fiibm.zip

Dynacomware's DFPOP1 is not an exact match (A's in the original have cuts on top and question mark is obviously different) but it's close enough

Probably too late as it's been an entire month, but I've been made aware that in the US default poster printing size is 20x30 and not A series paper, so made a quick extension to 2:3 ratio if that's more convenient on the off chance you haven't printed yet 😅

Wait, that's literally the model from Lawnmower Man

Didn't expect anyone to actually print it but in hindsight probably should've anticipated non-metric paper sizes huh

Too late now but made a quick and dirty vertical expansion to 20x30 ratio as I've been made aware that's the size people usually print these in

I am still half-convinced that this is an intentional Jerma reference because of all the Jerma-as-Spamton edits at the time

Just on the vibes alone Water Hazard is one of my favourite chapters in the game and I much prefer airboat sections to buggy ones
