An airborne virus is a virus that can infect other people through unseen particles in the air, sometimes for hours after the sick person has left the area! Masks and clean, ventilated air can reduce the risk of getting sick from airborne viruses or infecting others.

SO MUCH THIS
Someone sent me old photos of me unmasked, saying they're grieving that version of me.

Umm, I'm very much alive & just paying attention to the evidence.

I am, however, grieving the version of them I thought had empathy

Watching Rod Serling's "A Carol for Another Christmas" (1964) tonight. Amazing how this retelling of the Dickens classic, here about a wealthy American industrialist/isolationist, is in too many ways more relevant today than when it aired. Available to stream on HBO and YouTube.

Unfortunately, irrational denial of Covid-19 is the one thing that unites nearly all members of the human community. It transcends nearly all differences and divisions. It is more powerful than politics or religion. It is a worldwide cult of collective negligence, pushing us toward destruction.

I just saw one of those creative photos from pandemic early days when people were dressing up as old master paintings. I miss when it seemed possible that despite existential threats uncertainty and loss that we would try to protect each other and relish the best of what humans can be and do.

THIS.
So chicken farms have started spending millions of dollars putting in state of the art air filtration and circulation systems - because culling whole flocks to mitigate avian flu is expensive - but we have done zero to improve air quality in schools - because kids are expendable I guess.

What an interesting coincidence.

Dr. Michael

"Being Covid-conscious is more than precautions and research. It’s grieving losses no one else will acknowledge, enduring mockery, protecting people who resent you, showing up for community the world says doesn’t matter, and fighting for a future others already declared lost."
