From Fringe to Flying Circus.
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

So much truth. And controversial view: for me one of the key differences between radio programmes and podcasts is that radio programmes rarely make me shout GET THE FUCK ON WITH IT I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU SAID EARLIER IN THE PUB I WASN’T THERE

@tonymartin.bsky.social Re. Sizzletown 101, The Ruling Class is on DVD. It’s not a great film but has a good cast. www.amazon.co.uk/Ruling-Class... But arguably Peter Medak’s best work is the episode of Breaking Bad where the ATM crushes the junkie, Peekaboo.

Appalling. I cannot support Labour now, even if they are still doing the odd good thing.
This is so disgusting.

The Guardian’s feature on novelty Christmas decorations includes what I imagine @dirtyfeed.org has all over his tree: a Sabrina Carpenter bauble (£25).

There’s a lot of ridiculous Christmas music in shops at the moment but the cover of My Favourite Things (from the Sound of Music) with sleigh bells underneath takes the (Christmas tree-shaped) biscuit.

On day one of rehearsals, she reputedly asked Cleese:
'How did they ever get married?'
And Cleese thought, 'Oh god, I was afraid you'd ask that.'
Oh, Prunella Scales. A real treat of a performer. A great unanswered question about Fawlty Towers is what kind of rizz a young Basil radiated to pull an absolute fox like Sybil. So long, you little nest of vipers.

Vale Prunella Scales. Loved her in Fawlty Towers, Great Canal Journeys and everything else.

Finally saw the acclaimed play Stereophonic last night. It’s very long but doesn’t feel it, and a nice, almost ambient, journey into the world of 70s music, but it has a big problem: it’s not saying anything beyond that artists are perfectionists and gender politics are a bit messed up.
