Have you ever noticed that ‘what’ rhymes with ‘lot’ but not with ‘that’?

Likewise, ‘car’ doesn’t rhyme with ‘war’, and neither do ‘trash’ and ‘wash’, ‘catch’ and ‘watch’, and ‘camp’ and ‘swamp’.

Why is that?

It’s all because of the /w/ sound.

Sinds ze iets meer dan 4 jaar geleden het opsporingsbericht van haar moeder deelde denk ik rond de jaarwisseling vaak aan @studiocaro.bsky.social. Nu ik een ouder aan het verliezen ben aan dementie is die herinnering aan Caro's zoektocht en getuigenis sterker dan anders. Ik hoop dat ze t goed stelt.
