“we estimate employment-weighted share of Americans using AI at work has fallen by a percentage point & now sits at 11%. Adoption has fallen sharply at the largest businesses, those employing +250 people. 3 yrs into the genAI wave, demand looks surprisingly flimsy” www.economist.com/finance-and-...

Unfortunately this is *absolutely* the wrong lesson.

The real lesson is:

🔹️most work of exec class is substance-less illusions.

If AI is useful in a given use case its because you really only care about form, not substance [as an aside, this why such a great plagiarism machine].

The coalition of chaos crashes the construction industry, and rather than announce any fiscal stimulus to stem the haemorrhaging, they announce a whole bunch of punitive measures and extra cost for both industry and customer.

Ladies and gentlemen, the “party of business” 👏🏻🙄

Exactly this. This is both an act of deliberate cruelty towards a marginalised, vulnerable community and a trial balloon to see how far they can push, and how fast.
(Going by the last two years and the pace and volume of erosion, and active targeting of vulnerable people - very far, and very fast.)

Shameful that we’re better at this than our national sport.
And it's our 4th time! In comparison, we won the men's rugby World Cup only 3 times... so our government is much better at denying climate change mitigation efforts than at supporting the national sport.

Couple of branching thoughts before I move on.

As long as we continue to view management and leadership as about control and status laddering, rather delivering results and elevating those around us, we will continue to incentivise unsuitable and sometimes downright broken people to cling to power.

Son was followed in his car for some distance just now by some assholes in a jacked up ute firing fireworks at him. Flashes caught on his dash cam but sadly no vehicle details.

Ban fireworks AND utes 🤬

If you want to:
Reduce crime, fix poverty first
Reduce traffic, fix public transport first
Improve employment, fix welfare and increase taxes
Increase productivity, make education free

Why do right wing govts do the opposite of what works? And they lie about it. So do “their” economists.

Struggling with the point of the Official Inflation Rate™️ (apparently 3%) when everything I need to live has inflated by far more.
The prices of things that New Zealanders can’t avoid is rising quickly, putting more stress on already overstretched budgets. Electricity prices are up 11.3%. Gas prices up 15%. Fruit and veg prices up 7.5%. Contents insurance up 9.3%. Going to the GP costs 10.3% more.
