I have a degree in English and I can assure you that the word “orthodoxy” is NOT being used correctly and that the phrase “scientific orthodoxy” is an affront to the English language.

I wrote this in 2018 for a resource that doesn’t seem to exist anymore about how to respond to sexual harassment in STEM. I’m so disappointed, but not surprised, that I need to post it again

In fairness, the NIH Director was describing his own research...
The NIH director told attendees the NIH doesn't do enough innovative research.

“What puts lives at risk is doing research that’s incremental,” Bhattacharya said. “All it does is advance the careers of the researchers that do it. It results in publications that don’t get used and aren’t replicable.”

This is a great follow-up to our paper in another #devbio journal @dev-journal.bsky.social describing the step-wise, postnatal development of 🧠 perivascular fibroblasts via proliferation & migration - w/ their 'friends' the perivascular macrophages, they are the last to join the perivascular space!
Meningeal origins and dynamics of perivascular fibroblast development on the mouse cerebral vasculature
Highlighted Article: Brain perivascular fibroblasts migrate from their origin in the meninges and proliferate locally to fully cover penetrating vessels during postnatal mouse development.

This is very exciting. Pfizer’s mRNA flu vaccine substantially outperformed the traditional/control vaccine. This cumulative incidence graph is remarkable. Again, they’re comparing the mRNA flu vaccine to an existing flu vaccine, not to a placebo @jackiantonovich.bsky.social

don't care what anybody says but #protists are cognitive
Cellular structure self-organizes through an interplay between internal mechanisms and external cues. The single-celled suctorian P. collini builds a trap structure to capture large prey using microtubule feeding tentacles, creating feedback between cell morphology and prey availability.
