How's your virigin sacrifice shaping up?
Mine's still a bit on the skinny side but I reckon I can get another ten or eleven kilos onto him before the big day.

That latter bit still feels icky to say out loud, but I'm getting better at it.

Joking aside, one of the things that making things like this has given me is lots of opportunity to accept things as they are and to not hold them against an impossible standard that only my mind's eye can see.
Likewise with being able to acknowledge that there's skill and artistry to what I make.

Yeah he's probably eight months old or so and we know that he lived with another household before being given up to the rescue charity, so I think you're right and he's not quite fully separated from mum.

He really is!
(When he gets super relaxed and comfortable (like when he's just had his tea and then comes for a cuddle) he twirls around chasing the tip of his tail and once he's caught it, he sucks on the end of it with an intensity that is borderline creepy)

If I was in therapy my therapist would probably say my inability to gracefully accept positive feedback is something I should keep working on, so to keep my non-existent therapist happy I'm going to just say "thanks, Box" and not make a whole thing about it wait what do you mean I've just done that

It's spalted beech, harvested from a windblown tree on one of my wife's reserves, and it was a commission from her to make a leaving present for a friend/colleague who was leaving her team.
Nature did the hard work to make it pretty, I just dried & shaped it 🥰

Right video at the right time... I was doing a very cerebral job and a huge amount of driving, and really wanted to be doing something practical with my hands.
Turns out sanding down antler, wood and steel was what I was missing 🥰

I have a few things I always make in a batch and do a couple of extras of, and the goal is over time to build up a little stock.
I particularly enjoy little firelighting kits - a flint and steel in a leather pouch along with a bundle of thistledown or similar as tinder. They do well at markets!
