Beautiful as the image is, there is no tree of life. The shape of biodiversity is more like a chaotic blanket, individual threads splitting, being snipped off, branching again, creating an incredible tangle of species that are both discrete and connected.

Curve-billed Thrashers sing a pleasant, highly variable ditty composed of repeated notes in short, often staccato phrases, sometimes mimicking other birds, belting out an endless and ever-changing melody. Like this one is doing in profile so you can peep the curve in that bill.
