Not sure if it's quintessential, but it's my favorite and also the story the introduced me to The Onion 30 years ago.

As a schools comms pro, one of my favorites is when people say "You never told us," and I ask "How did you find out?" and it's usually an email or postcard we sent out.

One of my kids used to have a weekly group get-together in Downtown East and I would head to Day Block for beer, pretzel and book. Good times.

I recognize this is not helpful to you but ... shrug.

Like sure "you can talk to the computer and it does stuff"is appealing since that's Star Trek and we want to live in Star Trek. But "you can talk to the computer and then it lies to you" is 2001: A Space Odyssey and we don't really want to live in that.

Tina Smith is more than enough proof we can do better

Imagine a town with only burger joints and one or two salad places 20 miles away. It would be hard to say the evidence is overwhelming that the majority of the town’s residents prefer burgers to salads. To me, that’s the suburban/urban housing preference debated distilled to its essence.

True that we have a lot of good stuff going on and also that the bar in North America is so low.

Already have way too many cars with one person in them. Now we'll have a whole bunch of cars with no person in them.
