Really interesting use of data, integrating what is known about COVID transmission into activity tracked during a video-recorded clinical skills competition in Hong Kong, to model the interplay between mitigations and behaviour.

🎄 Happy holidays. Sorry to ruin the vibes.

+1.5 MILLION disabled adults in two months.

Entering year 7
In the 12th wave.

Disability is accumulating because infection is accumulating.

You can pretend it’s over.
The labor force, healthcare system, and your brain do not agree.

It ain’t brain surgery to figure out that so many of these viruses are airborne. Yes there are fomite issues, but #airborne has emerged as a primary conduit of viruses. If they had addressed cleaning the air from the get go today would look totally different.

This EXACTLY why it's crucial to have the proposed revisions to CSA Standard Z94.4 (Selection, use, and care of respirators) accepted and adopted. It covers ALL industries.

Healthcare workers must NOT continue to be exempt from the same protections offered in other sectors!

Watching an amazing documentary film called “Cat Daddies”. What beautifully heart warming show. I’ve cried and laughed and just felt such affinity to the stories. A wonderful way to spend a very windy, snow-stormy afternoon.

Masking doesn't feel futile at all. While others get COVID every year, I haven't had it in nearly six years. Nor influenza. Nor strep, nor RSV, nor any kind of cough whatsoever. In nearly six years. Masking is imperative and priceless if you value your body and health. And spreading disease is vile.
This👇. When I try to explain masking to others (even friends), I get a lot of “yeah, I get it—you don’t want to get sick.”

I don’t want to get sick, but more importantly, I don’t want others to get sick & don’t want to be a part of a cycle of illness that makes a healthy life harder for everyone.

Researchers in Brazil found SARS-CoV-2 uses a sophisticated tactic to evade the body’s defenses. It can dodge the immune system before invading cells, then manipulate the host cell’s genetic material after infection—an approach not previously seen in other pathogens. This helps it escape detection.
COVID-19 Alters Host RNA, Disables Immune Response
Researchers at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) in Brazil have discovered that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, uses a

Every anti-trans bill that gets passed makes it Even More important to have a presidential candidate who is decidedly pro-trans, so we *know* that these things will be put right.

So yeah, it's an issue.

Never, ever look to a physician for preventative advice.

Physicians do not do prevention. They do aftercare. "The vaccine I gave you will help, AFTER you've been infected!"

Don't want to get infected in the first place? Follow engineering advice. Wear an N95. Clean indoor public air. ASHRAE 241!
"There has been a lot of squabbling over masks in recent weeks. The reality is that yes they do help ... we are not at the stage where they should be mandatory. However if you are working with people who are vulnerable, or in a crowded space then you should wear a mask."
