"A new preprint study shatters the idea that pediatric long COVID is just a mild or different version of the adult form.
It shows that children share the same core immune patterns - and, strikingly, some resemble those seen in chronic infections like HIV"

A whole lot of people still can't figure out why students are struggling and absenteeism is so high. They seem oblivious to the fact that millions of kids have long COVID. Many are still talking about the brief stay at home period from 2020 as causal. Sometimes I just want to give up. It's COVID!
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

Morons. I'd never leave money to a university that bent the knee to trump. Not one penny.
BREAKING: Northwestern University has agreed to pay the U.S. Treasury $75 million, over the course of three years as part of an agreement with the federal government to restore funding and end investigations into the university

So, basically no one over 40 and no one on psych drugs should get medical treatment? Who would be left??
In a massive meeting of doctors… on the topic of the aging population and resource problems…

Yes.

One of them said we should consider not treating people with co-morbidities.

My friends.

I could not hold my tongue.

Scientists must learn to join larger pro-democracy and people's movements, coalitions. Our science training may not have prepared us for such work, but we can no longer sit in the safety of our labs and expect the world to get better

Trump said today he'll be pardoning former Honduran President Juan Hernandez, who was convicted of drug trafficking and weapons charges in 2024 and sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Waging a drug war on Venezuela while pardoning a narco-terrorist takes hypocrisy to a level once thought impossible.

Weather it’s Joe Biden pardoning kids who were caught with a couple ounces of weed or Donald Trump pardoning the Honduran president who smuggled in 400 tons of cocaine, both presidents were soft on drugs.

trump doesn't care about drug trafficking and never has.
Felon47 said he will pardon a former Honduran president sentenced to 45 years in prison on drug and gun charges, a clemency move that comes as Trump regularly speaks about the need to crack down on illegal narcotics.

Crooks flock together.

Pure corruption.

I scroll past anything that appears to be/use AI. Bye.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

US poverty exists by design. Only people who do not live in poverty can abolish it.
GUARDIAN: “Per head, 🇺🇸 output is six times China’s, and yet, inexplicably, there seem to be more abjectly poor Americans than Chinese. 🇺🇸 inequality is breathtaking… keeps getting worse…”

Wanting to address this isn’t radical.

NOT wanting to is.

It's wholesome and oddly depressing to me that Al Gore, 77, not owing anyone shit, is still criss-crossing the globe full-time warning people about climate change, raising money for climate projects, mentoring the next generation of environmentalists, and generally being obsessed with this issue.

Every non-necessity you buy ends up in a landfill for your kids to try to live with.
It’s not a great deal if you don’t need it. And especially this year, others really need support. So for all of us who have enough, let’s refuse to get sucked into the holiday shopping frenzy and share instead of shop. We don’t need more stuff, we need communities where all our neighbors are safe.
