There is a certain breed of "left wing" politician that equates unpopularity with vindication. I can't get my head around it either tbh

"Reform would be worse" is both entirely correct and entirely irrelevant until polling day 2029. What matters right now is that Labour's approach is morally repugnant on its own terms, *and is empowering Reform*. As things stand today, its not Labour or Reform. Its Labour *then* Reform.
While it feels like I'm repeatedly slamming my head against a brick wall repeating this massively simple concept. Saying "Reform would be worse" doesn't make what Labour is doing better. Labour is now the most anti-immigration, anti-any marginalised group, government we have seen in decades. 1/
Very long thread: As with many of Labour's anti-immigration policies, this isn't new. British police have been stationed in other countries for this purpose for a long time
It does however show how Labour is pushing more on anti-immigration than previous governments. 1/

I'm old enough to remember when good design was paramount. If something was functional and resiliant, we knew the name of the designer who created it. I can't name you one designer working today. I might be ignorant. It might reflect the change in priority from 'good design' to 'fuck the consumer'

I get psychic damage from fixing a bunch of poorly designed stuff and sometimes interacting with things that things can be engineered well. It's hard to describe but it makes me really angry. Things *can* be well made but they are purposefully not.

Good design means cutting down the friction on things that make life annoying, time consuming, depressing, irritating, but people don’t buy stuff when they’re happy. Unfortunately we need we’re spending when we need to be boycotting.

So much junk has designer labels on it. From clothing to furniture.
Mass produced junk that ends up in the landfill before you can finish paying for it.

These new cars are not good designs. They all look the same and you can't even change the spark plugs without removing the whole engine. Saw a commercial for a car the other day where they compared it with a car from a competitor, I laughed. Both cars looked exactly the same. Pathetic.

Yeah, at some point it went from "this will connect humanity and in sharing we will forget our differences, war will end, and we'll live our lives in eternal peace and happiness" to them absolutely, deliberately making everyone's lives worse for some power and some billions. Wankers, all.

We could rebel by not buying their shit. Imagine that. Not buying stuff from people who make no secret their business model is basically 'rob the consumer'

What many politicians don't realise - or want to understand - is that many of the "highly-skilled" immigrants whose labour they crave were raised by the same asylum seekers and refugees they openly despise. They take the racist political rhetoric personally, and act accordingly. Why wouldn't they?
"Record numbers of overseas-trained doctors are quitting the UK, leaving the NHS at risk of huge gaps in its workforce, with hostility towards migrants blamed for the exodus...the NHS is so heavily reliant on doctors from elsewhere – 42% of its entire medical workforce qualified overseas."
All those people, including current government, who falsely claim migrants are to blame for failings with the NHS, along with infrastructure in general, are in for one hell of a shock with how much worse things will get with Labour's anti-immigration policies.
