Well I like Coffin Man godddamnit!
Would these No Kings protesters be prepared to show out like this to stop a legal eviction?
I think if we want to have any chance at changing the government, more people need to stop taking pictures of other people without their permission. If consent was normalized it would do more harm to the administration than any protest.
Oh I don't care if you respect me because you haven't really said anything of value and I don't think you will.
I liked the demonic boy band, I laughed when they were introduced and became hot and the demon king was like "yeah ok good idea."
"quit writing essays in peoples replies you tedious nerd" yeah, I'm going to be super serious as a response to that. That's the opening line to a respectful conversation for real.
You could have addressed my points in a serious way and we could have had a serious conversation .
I think it's fine and it works, otherwise we would be talking about all the stuff I wrote about protests instead of being snarky and we established quickly we aren't going to read someone's thoughts about protests. I'm not able to make a point because you've already said you won't read it.
Yeah you have to turn off or restrict replies to stop that, or use the mute feature.
Quit reading! Just stop after the first sentence, I did.
Hey now, the Viet Cong helped end the war too!
I did use the sarcasm font. (Every font is the sarcasm font now)
If that increase in price went to the people actually making the game instead of them being laid off that would sure make it a lot more tolerable.
Well, maybe these protests could create the social networks necessary for effective actions.
the Labor Theory of Value. So there are not many paths forward to fix all the problems of late-stage capitalism. So I think protests have become a sort of magic spell and are pushed as the main way to make social change in order to avoid anti-capitalist strategies.
So protesting feels incredibly good and productive, to criticize protesting and look at goals vs. successes and permanence of success is yucking people's yums in their tum tums. The neoliberal order can not allow Communism or anti-Capitalism and friend, a lot of people literally don't believe in
We should never have taken protests as a unquestionable good or productive action. Personally, as someone with a masters degree in social work, I think that modern American protesting is promoted and pushed /because/ it is generally ineffective (especially now) but creates incredibly positive vibes.
goals. You can see how toxic fascist ideas are and how they are cognitohazards: the cult of action is infectious. The antithesis to fascism is to constantly question and criticize our own actions and to use skeptical observations to confirm our actions are having the desired outcome.
Protests are a specific technique and activity that has changed and evolved over the decades, they are something that can be studied as a technique and interrogated and questioned. Protests are physical activities in a material world and we can determine if they succeed in chieving specific material
I have actually seen in the past 2 weeks that no one is able to get sarcasm, no matter how absurd I get with it (strong reaction to "actually Jesus was a serial killer of homeless people") and honestly that makes it even funnier. "Protests are not a magic spell" is in fact, exactly my point.
It's a reaction to how people behave if you criticize protesting. It is pretty much a sarcastic comment. I have criticisms of modern protests so mute or block me. That's really all that's up with the comment.
Oh, more opinions from the political spectrum, like Marxism right? Right?
If you doubt it will work it will stop working. It won't work if everyone doesn't believe in it, so by questioning it you are damaging it's effectiveness.
Just tell him, "they're younger than you are and don't know any better."
