look, auto-craptions have their place as a backstop last resort by the end consumer. but there is no excuse for serving them up earlier in the chain and making people *think* something has high-quality captions, when it doesn't!

People that pretend that Defund the Police is a bad slogan, usually turn out to be deeply uncomfortable with the idea that the police don't do what they think the police do, just like you've asked in this thread.

But trying to focus on the slogan isn't as honest as just saying what you feel.

They're missing so many product safety features that any site who accepts under-13 signups should have. They sit on reports for weeks or months. They have only extremely reluctantly been pressured into implementing additional systems, and it was only because of *multiple* lawsuits.

Even Discord is better, because Discord is at least trying to handle the child predator problem, even if they're not perfectly successful at it! Roblox didn't even acknowledge the problem until recently. They're *ludicrously* understaffed, moderator-wise, for their size and traffic.

It's the other way around: that if the government were responsible for everyone's health and took that seriously, we'd live in healthier environments.

Men are not inherently violent; some men have learned they can get away with anything because of permissive power structures, and they proceed to do so.

The issue is with permissive power structures.

The entire backlash against trans women existing in society was based on the notion that boys would be boys, even if they went through extraordinary pains to NOT be boys in literally every way possible.

It was an inherently anti-feminist take.

People behave significantly less abusively when they're posting under a persistent pseudonym (ie, their username is self-chosen, but they always use the same one) than they do when posting under their "real name". The effect has been replicated a bunch of times, too!
