just being a Holocaust denier - which they peg at mid-30s percent of overall Republicans - isn't enough to be "anti-Jewish". Truly cooked stuff.

I remember McNamara in that (generally awesome) interview-documentary relating how Castro told him he would want nuclear weapons used in case of a US invasion of his country.

McNamara was all "my god nuclear war?" But that's the view of someone whose state's existence is not in question!

slatestarcodexabridged is a culture war blog that just happens to be really smart sometimes. the only single essay that's important is meditations on moloch, which is sort of a Nick Land cover band thing

the sequences are (actually) a long thesis on epistemology that simply has many digressions and that tries to spoonfeed you "we should build a god and live forever, but also it may kill us all" towards the end. that's the entire thing. it's walking you through transhumanism plus ai doom

Alternately, we can look at how long it took to evolve on Earth (a REALLY LONG TIME) and note that it was a substantial fraction if not a majority of the time Earth will be habitable.

The random chance machine needs a lot of tries to get to this.

It is not a war crime to attack enemy military forces outside an arbitrarily defined "war zone".

I love it when people post a picture of some regular guy to reddit and say “what breed is my cat?”

Ma’am, your cat came out of some muddy shrubs in your friend’s sister’s back yard

Over the past couple of decades, San Francisco has added about 6 jobs for every 1 new home built, a jobs-housing imbalance second only to Silicon Valley. The result has been huge rent increases spilling over to the East Bay.

The Family Zoning Plan is a big deal for our whole region.

Anyway, you seem to have a habit of taking actual historical events, and just making up surrounding facts that make them look like the Argentine claims to the Falklands. I'm done with this whack-a-mole of looking up every claim you make to find out it's bullshit. Bye.

No, that's not an argument Ukraine uses. It uses the fact that borders between Soviet Republics were extremely well delineated, and the Budapest Memorandum where Russia *explicitly* committed to respecting existing borders.
December 2, 2025 at 8:07 PM
And WRT your comparison: unlike settlers in the West Bank, there are no other inhabitants of the Falklands, past or present, to whom Falklanders and Britain are *denying* self determination.
December 2, 2025 at 7:59 PM
The official position of recognizing the 1967 borders was made later, and made *explicitly*. Recognizing a state and recognizing specific territorial claims are different actions.
December 2, 2025 at 7:56 PM
When Argentina recognized Israel in 1949, it did not specify any territorial reservations.

And yet, given its refusal to place its embassy in West Jerusalem, it clearly did not recognize that as Israeli territory.
