Just hit 90,000 words of my fantasy novel manuscript. Had to add another chapter to my outline, but that was mostly because I realised one chapter would be too large and unwieldy if I wrote it as outlined, so I split it into two smaller ones (one of which I've already written).

Another tomato harvest. Some of them aren’t quite ripe, but it’s going to be so hot tomorrow they would end up cooking on the vine, so they can ripen on my kitchen windowsill instead, which has the added bonus of protecting them from hungry birds and possums looking for a snack.

Being a journalist is sick: I just contacted a pre-eminent jaguar conservationist in Argentine with a question that has been weighing on me for ages and he wrote back right away with an informed answer.

Every now and then while I'm writing, I come out with a paragraph that makes me sit back in my chair and say to myself, "This is some good-ass prose."

Just wrote another one of those paragraphs.

Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind.

It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty.

Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face.

Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

Spent a few hours today in the library for a writing workshop. Good group of people and a fairly relaxed atmosphere, so I’m looking forward to going again when my hectic teaching schedule allows.

Going to a writing workshop event tomorrow with a friend. Part of me doesn't want to go because it's going to be so hot, but if I don't leave the house at some point, my transformation into a feral trashgoblin will be complete.

Yet another harvest today. My tomato plants are out of control 💀

I was eating an icy pole and a chunk of it broke off and fell on the ground. Rosco got to it before I could but when he tried to eat it, he yelped at how cold it was and then spat it out.

I should feel bad for laughing at him, but... *shrug*

It is staggering how the two non-Jewish Australians murdered that day never get mentioned. They keep trying to insist on a “national” day of mourning, on tying this to Australian identity, while simultaneously making it explicitly about Israel—trying to use it to ban protests, and suppress dissent.
It was appropriate to have a day of mourning, but this language is very problematic in the context of Israel's actions and the political insistence on merging all Jews with that country as a unitary identity. And Minns' tie colour choice wasn't an accident.

Had lots of plans for all the writing I was going to get done today but I've woken up with the beginnings of a migraine...
two men are sitting next to each other in a dark room and one of them is saying hello darkness my old friend .
Alt: Ben Affleck sitting in an interview and looking sad while Henry Cavill speaks next to him. "Hello darkness my old friend" is on the screen in music notes.

#BREAKING 🚨 The federal Liberal–National Coalition is again no more, with David Littleproud saying Sussan Ley forced the agreement "into an untenable position"

Littleproud says his party will sit by themselves and cannot be part of a coalition led by Ley

*starts pounding on desk with fist* Lib! Spill! Lib! Spill! #LibSpill
Anyways - Coalition split all but done. Eight Nationals resign from shadow cabinet. Can’t have a Coalition cabinet with just one party. Sussan Ley will sink with it.

Who could have predicted any of this? (sarcasm)
