I’d also argue that how you use the models matters a lot - I’m much less annoyed by neuro-sama than “cold outreach” (aka spam) companies using the exact same model and training data.

Same with voice cloning - great for trans people, they should get to use it!

Less great if scammer uses it

the faux-AI evangelists see the artistic process as a race to get to a finished product, instead of something valuable in itself. the process is where you develop those skills you don't have yet, it cannot be skipped, it is where the art happens

In the US, the discussion always focuses on parents rights to chose - when it should also focus on the children’s right to be healthy.

Two competing legal and moral rights - but it obvious which one ought to prevail. It’s not the one that leaves the child scarred for life, bc the parent is stubborn
The children who get measles because their parents are selfish idiots do not deserve this. This is why mandating vaccines is important.

When your child asks why they are suffering, why they have gone deaf, blind or died because you let them get the measles---I hope you know it is your fault.
Latest on South Carolina measles outbreak: "Of the 111 measles cases recorded in that area...105 involved people who were unvaccinated while three involved those who were partially vaccinated...At least 254 people had been placed in quarantine as of Tuesday"

The top-10 carmakers by market cap make up 75% of global passenger car sales.

Tesla makes up less than 2%.

The Tesla bubble will be widely documented in history books.

What I hate most about this whole thing is that people pretend that THIS discrimination is ok, because trans people make them uncomfortable. As if that wasn't always the reason for all discrimination.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Selling your Tesla might take some time (you should still do it) but stopping your use of X is instantaneous. I genuinely don’t know what more evidence someone needs, especially Brits, to get off that website. This is as grotesque as it is chilling. Musk is hellbent on gravely damaging the UK
Elon Musk is a white nationalist. Anyone who needs more data points to reach this conclusion is beyond help or persuasion.

If you buy, rent, service, or supercharge a Tesla you are supporting the most powerful white nationalist on earth. Period.
Musk is funding the legal battle of UK Far Right activist Tommy Robinson - real name Stephen Yaxley Lennon - as he faces charges brought by counterterrorism police.

Machines have no choice - they do, what they are programmed to do. Giving them an award does not increase their likelihood to engage in good behaviour, and recognition of their contributions is meaningless.

Why should we acknowledge their contributions?

Lol the Nobels can't even acknowledge women's contribution to discovery. But sure let's acknowledge The Machines.
