I’m a mid-tier YouTuber making great-but-still-within-the-realm-of-normalcy money and I spend so much time and energy fretting about the ethics of sponsor deals I take. Meanwhile here’s Mr. Major Hollywood Star just doing fucking gambling ads for another million to throw on the pile. Dispiriting.

Pruned my shrimp bowl so they have room to swim again. Most of these guys were born in here. It’s just a fishbowl with aqua soil in the bottom and pearl weed. No filter, no light, no heater. Just in a window. Change some water every now and then and wipe the glass. A fun thing that anyone could do!

Our health insurance is going up by a third this year, even though we’ve never received any of the subsidies that are expiring. More expensive insurance for poor people means more expensive insurance for all people.
Whelp, it’s official. In 2026 with a marketplace plan, our family of 4 will spend $23,381 for the year on premiums alone. This doesn’t cover the adults’ teeth and eyes. GREAT COUNTRY GREAT SYSTEM!

Like 12 years ago I wrote a piece for slate arguing that “terrorist” had become a loaded, incoherent term that journalists should generally avoid. Report what people do instead of labeling what they are, etc. The danger being that people would start to call anyone they don’t like a terrorist. Well..

FWIW I think the primary purpose of the new Trump agency bsky accounts is probably to attract replies they can use as evidence of how unreasonable we are here. Not telling you what to do, but I plan to not give them any oxygen.
