Good news/bad news: I realized today's feeling of dread isn't about the impending cooking, but rather about the impending dinner with the v. conservative end of the family. Luckily TWO of the family members have gotten engaged since the last holiday, so that should take care of the conversation.

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Folks, if your library doesn’t have a book you want to read, ask them to buy a copy. Most have a convenient form and will let you know when it comes in. If your library offers ILL, they can even borrow books from other libraries.
