We asked our teams to share some of the sad* Christmas decorations in the collections they help care for.

*Note: Not all are sad. Some are ever so slightly odd and all are weirdly wonderful.

As we move into the season of excess, I love Millay’s quiet and smiling refusal at restraint.

At first glance, the poem seems almost flippant but beneath the surface is provocative tone.

Much like Jack London’s thought ‘I would rather be ashes than dust…’

Trip to Bedford today to see the new exhibition at #HigginsBedford gallery / museum of the books and works published and edited by Noel Carrington mainly for Puffin. It’s a delight and Orlando by Kathleen Hale is a star.

Hi there. This is a tricky one… But this is a ‘go to’. Most comforting for me is art which knows the world is scary and dark, but also fun and can be hilarious. Could be any one of their tracks but…

Good evening! A late start for me after a day out. A top opening tune and some fabulous songs in the mix so far. Thought long and hard about this; Token 1 is The Keeper by Simrit. So uplifting and I’m a sucker for a kora. A beautiful piece of music.

A week ago, I made the point that films/tv etc focus on cars, normalising car-filled city streets. I asked for examples highlighting bikes/trams/buses/walking, and got 1.1k replies. Data!
Here is my unscientific analysis of those suggestions (and no, I can’t believe I did this either). [1/n] 🧵

Go Jowan! My occasional house guest, son to my Cornish pals and I’m so damn proud of him. He’s been involved in volunteering and creating many positive social enterprises in New Zealand, UK & mainland Europe - tops it off with love of learning the Cornish language.
