Watching #BBCQT & the discussion about growth. Maybe capitalism's need for growth is the problem. In a world of finite resources, growth will one day be impossible. Capitalism, like everything else, will reach a hard stop. Everything comes to an end. It's when, not if.

Why is it that, every year after the Budget, the people that complain the most about its impact are the ones who can most afford to deal with it?

I don't have a violin small enough for these people.

It’s the Budget today? Wow, they kept that quiet.

This is an extremely poor decision from the BBC, and even more so after the Panorama debacle.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Looked at this way, AI is a kind of Ponzi scheme....
You have to keep giving money to avoid collapse and if there’s collapse you have to give more money. It’s called the free market.

I have little to no interest in gaming but I pay for my son’s XBox subscription which is going up from £14.99 per month to £22.99, an increase of 53%.

I’m going to have even less interest in paying for it now as well.

When we’re getting down to terms like ‘direct’ or ‘indirect’ to differentiate types of racial abuse I think we all know what kind of person Nigel Farage is.

Farage says he's 'never directly racially abused anybody' www.bbc.com/news/article...

The Reform UK leader was responding to reports he made racist remarks to his peers in school in the 1970s.

I found this astounding. Even in private, after the suffering his words had caused, Boris Johnson still didn’t apologise to Nazanin Zachary-Ratcliffe.

He’s just an awful human being.
Boris Johnson didn't apologise to Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, even when she told him in person the lasting impact his comments about her had on her detention in Iran, her husband tells the BBC

I am neither a Tory or Labour voter but this is an apposite point…..
The economy has not been pretty since you've been in charge", Laura Kuennsberg tells Heidi Alexander.

So was it a bed of roses before that then?

Some rugby games are exhausting just to watch. Ireland v South Africa is one of them. Absolutely mental.

The Regiment regrets that, whilst all female officers are away for weekend manoeuvres, the Field Marshal has invaded the marital bed. I was awoken to this unacceptable sight this morning. As always, his special forces camouflage kept him hidden until he made the fatal mistake of grinning. #FMJPC

AS GOOD AS IT GETS.

I’m looking forward to the contrasting headline on tomorrow’s sports papers…..

I still think that the loss of Diogo Jota has affected Liverpool deeply. Loss and grief can either galvanise teams to reach new heights or fall apart. I am beginning to wonder whether a team can win the Premier League and get relegated in consecutive seasons. There appears to be no sign of recovery.

I love Welsh #rugby. Proper heart and soul stuff. Wonderful anthem too. But they are going to need every single ounce of it to have any chance against an angry New Zealand side still reeling from the defeat to England last week.

“Australia draw first blood in the Ashes” says the commentator.

As a Pom, it feels less like blood drawn and more like legs cut off. What an innings by Travis Head.

At least it’s only the Gabba next.

So I will adjust my prediction to 4-1 to England.

From what I can see, Trump's proposed peace deal for Russia and Ukraine is basically him giving Russia what it wants.
November 21, 2025 at 5:04 PM
We have our own political problems here in the UK but it's astounding that millions of Americans voted for Trump. This is just one of dozens of reasons why he is clearly unfit to be President.
It’s still astonishes me that ANYONE surrendered their futures, integrity, and country to vote for this loathsome, misogynistic, racist, fetid felon and blatant buffoon.

An extremely apposite post for our times. We're led to believe in meritocracy when the most influential factors in our lives, whether we work hard or not, are luck & circumstance.

The world would be a far nicer place if the most fortunate shared more of their good luck.
“Inequality is poisoning our economy and undermining growth - and yet politicians see tackling it as low priority or too risky”

AI is a menace & threat to civilisation, propped up by a sociopathic group of very wealthy individuals whose interest is in their own power & wealth. We are beginning to see the distinctive signs of a bubble & now the stench of Epstein.

There's a lot to digest here from @carolecadwalla.bsky.social
NEW: Welcome to the Great AI Bubble. Yes, it’s here. And yes, it’s going to burst.

It’s also got way more in common with the Epstein scandal than you really want to know.

33-19. Woohoo! That’s 4 times I’ve watched England play New Zealand at Twickenham and still never seen a loss.

I suggest I go to every one from now on.
I am going to Twickenham tomorrow to watch England play the All Blacks. This will be my fourth time watching them play each other at HQ during which time England have not yet lost. Hence, I apologise in advance for jinxing it.
