Some great advice here (as always) from Carole 👇 #scriptsky
This year’s “Thanksgiving” post isn’t for the grateful writers — it’s for the ones feeling stuck, bitter, and anything *but* thankful. If that’s you, here are a few tips for surviving family dinners, the industry slowdown, and the pressure to fake positivity.
The Gratitude Hangover — Carole Kirschner
Every Thanksgiving my family and I get invited to what can only be described as a spectacular Thanksgiving extravaganza.  It’s hosted by one of my best friends and is less dinner party and more...

In a comedy writers room you have to know SO MUCH about what white men ages 36-65 think is PEAK COMEDY that I’m not surprised by this list at all. You must understand the Spaceballs references, you must pretend you are not afraid when you’re shown Sam Kinison’s angry shark eyes.
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!

This is something that @andrewhickey.500songs.com sometimes talks about that I absolutely freaking love. "Please Please Me" began as Lennon's attempt to write a Roy Orbison song, and if you slow it way down and sing it to yourself you can still absolutely hear it.
They teach people to write songs this way!
Lake Street Dive’s “You Go Down Smooth” started as a college class exercise in rewriting “Got to Get You Into My Life.”
The two songs aren’t the same, but are built from the same parts, like those Lego sets w/ alternate instructions.

I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

Not only is the Govt analysis plain wrong - hardly analysis, in fact - but the straw man opponent of "would like to just wish it away" is positively insulting. No-one is wishing away the emboldened racism, we want it properly addressed, and not like this (Mahmood & Co could get off X for a start)

What many politicians don't realise - or want to understand - is that many of the "highly-skilled" immigrants whose labour they crave were raised by the same asylum seekers and refugees they openly despise. They take the racist political rhetoric personally, and act accordingly. Why wouldn't they?
"Record numbers of overseas-trained doctors are quitting the UK, leaving the NHS at risk of huge gaps in its workforce, with hostility towards migrants blamed for the exodus...the NHS is so heavily reliant on doctors from elsewhere – 42% of its entire medical workforce qualified overseas."
All those people, including current government, who falsely claim migrants are to blame for failings with the NHS, along with infrastructure in general, are in for one hell of a shock with how much worse things will get with Labour's anti-immigration policies.

psst, no one is struggling with this - we are trying to create singular things that resonate with a huge audience or resonate hugely with a specific audience. We "struggle" with how tech and VC funding has broken almost every creative economy we have. So thanks but no thanks
