Affinity systems in games are cool but I wish they were all multi layered it makes sense to not have affinity with a bow if all you were using were swords but there should be some value retained if you're just switching inside a type

the more uncomfortable corollary to this is that I think the days of humans _reading_ the code is also mostly gone. you're producing so much code now that a human reviewer is a massive bottleneck.
IMO, you need to shift validation strategies massively towards tests and flagging high risk code.
