Just read @astrokatie.com's book on the various end of universe scenarios posited by current models in cosmology. Thoroughly enjoyable, informative and entertaining, with the author's wry humour and innate humanity shining through. Easy to read and digest, notwithstanding the topic. Highly recommend

Love how the people responsible for making so many men entirely unfuckable and for making the world a place people are hesitant to want to bring a child into (or even just give birth in) are the ones constantly crying about birth rates.
👀 Marriage “bootcamp,” huge tax breaks for couples with kids, capping alimony, discouraging online dating…

A WaPo exclusive, we got the final draft of the Heritage Foundation’s “Manhattan Project” for more babies.

Plus a previous draft with scrapped ideas, which you’ll want to see.

Another problem is how & why he felt SO comfortable sharing this with a national newspaper??

Did you know the “weekend” and working only 8 hours per day used to be considered a radical, liberal idea?

139 years ago today, in Bay View, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 7 workers (including a 13 yo) lost their lives to advance this revolutionary idea.

🇺🇸 HISTORY: Thomas Jefferson was 44 when he began what many today refer to as a romance or affair with Sally Hemings.

Sally had no legal capacity to consent to such a relationship not only because she was enslaved, Jefferson's property, but also because she was 14-years-old. 🧵

Sitting here thinking the president that had done the almost impossible and bankrupted casinos was elected on the basis that "he was good for the economy" and now he's in, he's well on the way to bankrupting the largest economy in the world.. Misogyny & racism proving expensive habits for his voters

People need to understand this is a smash and grab. The billionaire oligarchs are looting the government right now. While most services and functions will be privatized and made worse, the real valuable heist is the data government has that Elon is stealing to feed his AI company.

This needs to be said more and loudly.
X is not worth 33 billion. He basically just paid himself $33B from another company, presumably to pay off his debts from the initial buy because he knows he'll never be able to raise the capital from X itself.

He is his own ponzi scheme.

If you ask someone today to name the builder of Hadrian's Wall, they would give you a funny look. But historical memory is odd, and right up to the 1800s we forgot who built it.

Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished
