BUGS!!!! Makes for a fun fossil Friday ☺️ scroll to see a great book recommendation for paleo bug people. Insects fossilize much like anything else. The reason why there isn't more in the fossil record is because their bodies often don't survive the length of time it takes for fossilization to occur.

#Iguanodon has a complicated history. It was the 2nd dinosaur genera named (200 years ago!), but quite a few dinosaurs formerly assigned to Iguanodon now have their own genus names. Mantellisaurus, Darwinsaurus, Mochlodon, and Barilium were all formerly considered "Iguanodon", just to name a few.

And so we come to the end of #fossilfriday 2024 - how wild is that? I felt like this photo of me with this life-size reconstruction of - Megalania estimated to have grown up to 7 meters including the tail. To put this in perspective, the largest Komodo Dragon males clock in at 3 meters (10 feet)!

Sharks eating dinosaurs! At the charming National Museum in Prague.
Totally morbid paleoart. But based on one of the few Czech dinosaur fossils, an ornithopod bone crisscrossed with the razor blade bites of sharks.

Reminder- using reference for art is NOT cheating. Depending on what type of artist you are, you should absolutely be using it. All highly skilled pro artists I know use it.

Art isn't a party trick, we don't have to be in the business of impressing ppl with the process. Don't hold yourself back.
