Hi, immunologist here:

(a scientist who studies immune & inflammatory processes)

RFK Jr is talking absolute bullshit when he says he can “see in kids faces that they have inflammation”

That’s NOT how immunology works.

He is an anti-science profiteer.
Start calling him such.

Disabled people shouldn't have to be/do things that are "inspirational" to deserve support, love, and life.

The best that many of us can do is simply survive... That should be more than enough.

Disability isn't a competition.

There's enough space for everyone to have a voice. And everyone deserves the support they need.

They call it #fibromyalgia

A word that sounds almost delicate. Like some mysterious softness. But there’s nothing soft about it. It’s raw and gnawing and unpredictable. It steals your motivation, your joy, your life.

Happy #DisabilityPrideMonth ! It’s okay if you aren’t proud about your #disability and it’s okay to have a complicated relationship with your disability (because lord knows I do). While I’m not often proud of my disability, I am disabled and I am proud of myself. #fibromyalgia #adhd #chronicillness

Vaccines save 2-3 million lives every year.
They are incredibly safe.

The risk of a serious adverse event after vaccination is ~1 in 1,000,000.

Context:
The risk of dying in a car crash: 1 in 100.
The risk of peanut allergy: 1 in 200,000.
The risk of dying from choking on food is 1 in 2500.

Disabled people are not scamming the system.

We're not the reason for high taxes or economic hardship.

We're a scapegoat. A distraction so you don’t focus on the billionaires and corporations benefitting from huge tax cuts.

It’s exceedingly hard to qualify for disability benefits.

Alabama: your Senators and most of your Reps want you sick and dead. 1/4+ of our hospitals will close. Hundreds of thousands of you will lose your healthcare so the state's richest 10% can get tax cuts they don't need. Higher ed will also collapse w capped loans. Good luck!

You should never judge one's risk threshold for COVID based on what you think you know about them. Physical health is just one factor, there's also

-social supports
-financial
-caregiving responsibilities
-mental health & invisible illnesses

Be curious & have compassion

Learning to rest is crucial when you’re chronically ill.

If you try and play through the pain, you can permanently set back your baseline.

Make sure you remember to rest your brain and your body.

That crushing brain fog that feels like scrambled eggs in your head?

That’s a warning sign to rest
