Fun fact about my big biz payroll tax bill which will fund vital services: employees making $125k annually already pay it via an “Additional Medicare Tax” on their federal tax returns.

Okay and 2026 will be a high turnout mid-term election. It will be a referendum on Republican’s lack of leadership, and on Democrat’s ability to step up and assume a leadership role.

I think this requires a progressive income tax, but I don’t expect Brad Smith et al to come on board with it. They remain wedded to a delusional belief that they can convince voters to accept a low tax, low services model. I think it’ll have to be done over their objection at the ballot box.

I think any sort of significant discussion about shifting government structures and land ownership should include and be lead by tribes and Indigenous people and cultural institutions tbh!
