Lots of people like to say there is no such thing as a Canadian identity. I don’t believe that, but even if it were true, I’d rather have no identity than the bullshit the Americans feed themselves.

In my 30 years of campaigns, the “voted” list never goes beyond the campaign team - it is generally used for pulling vote to various days of AP and Eday. (if they’ve voted you can stop bugging them)
It can often have errors, as well. So certainly is not evidence of anything.

Apparently Elections Alberta hands over a list of voters to the political parties, which I find to be all kinds of ick. It’s one thing for a party to try and track votes and do a best guess. But it should be no one’s business whether I voted or not. What Nally is doing here is exactly why.

I enjoyed the first couple of these, now they just worry me. As expressions of anger, they work fine. But I hope people understand that if the petitions are successful, they need to give money, volunteer and vote for the opposition in order to prevent the UCP candidates from being elected again.

Absolutely bizarre to me that a sitting member of the United States Senate wouldn’t call for impeachment after the President called for her to be hanged.
“This can’t be the new normal.” Agreed. So do what would normally be done.

It should be noted that the right-wing think tank the Heritage Foundation has the United States ranked 27th in the world in economic freedom, behind countries such as Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland…and Canada.

If you're trying to convince your friends to spend time on Bluesky rather than X, maybe show them this. X is not "the public town square" or about "free speech." It's "just what Elon Musk wants you to see." If you see stuff he doesn't like he'll step in to make sure you don't see it for long.
