New: we've obtained material explaining how an ICE surveillance system, called Webloc, works. Draw shape on a map, see all phones available there, follow them home. All without warrant

If Kenosha, Wisconsin can build grassy tram tracks, so can your city.

Yes, this is an Atlanta subtweet.

It’s a Christmas miracle! There is finally (finally!) more than paint for pedestrians crossing the slip lane on Sam’s Crossing in #DecaturGA!

They’ve repaved the driveways, so in my view the #AvondaleEstates multi use path is substantially complete.
It’s a monumental change in street character from the previous 5-lane without continuous sidewalks.

Did you know that for two centuries, noncitizen American men in every state participated in elections?

That was, until women and Black and Brown folk began demanding their right to vote, of course.

That and a lot more, in my essay for @austinlouisray.bsky.social's How I'd Fix Atlanta: (🧵)
How Alex Ip Would Fix Atlanta
How I’d Fix Atlanta — Let Noncitizens Vote In Local Elections Alex Ip On a Monday afternoon in May, I was waiting for a bus in Buckhead that was supposed to come every 15 minutes. But as roughly 30 ...

How would @alexip718.com fix Atlanta?

Immigrants pay taxes, work hard, send their kids to public schools, and build better futures for their communities.

It's time to let them vote in local elections as well.

Imagine trying to text and drive while also needing to shift gears every 3 mph 😂
we could make electrics so much more complicated to drive than manuals, if we had the courage

Good tip! Could’ve saved a life here in #DekalbCountyGA last weekend.

$250k for a chunk of that $5 billion of contracts he's making his TAD grab for? Could be a good investment, baby.
Neighborhood revitalization? Well, not so much, unless your nabe has a bunch of $250ks to ante up.

Absolutely not. The Beltline *alone* is diverting ~$50 million/year and growing from schools just from its TAD/TIF. And $ from Grady and other basic services. (And this would be even larger if corporate properties were being taxed at close to market value as they are supposed to be.)
I have to wonder: would APS be in a situation where they have to close 16 schools if they hadn't lost out on funds for the past 20 years through Tax Allocation Districts?
(2/10) APS leaders say they must “rightsize,” noting roughly 70k available seats but only 50k students, and project that consolidation could save $25M annually.

Think much of the over-parenting we despise stems from the early on fear of the driver.
If parents weren't terrified of our streets kids would have so much more freedom and independence which might get them comfortable with their children's ability to navigate the world without them.
