ANYWAY, AI is a atrocious. But you know what's great? Asking black comic creators to come speak to kids at your local middle school. (I'm namedropping @shawnrpryor.bsky.social and @shanfiction.bsky.social as two candidates for this.)

Just…. Just give these kids art supplies and fund their art programs. Nobody wants this ai garbage they just want to enjoy the arts!!!

I’m figuring out what I think/care about this but this reminds me of people I talk to who tell me they only like entertainment “based on a true story” or “if it could happen in real life” (and as if that’s “better”entertainment). Which is usually to say they don’t like sci fi or fantasy or…themes.

I didn’t plan to do this but I ended up doing this with some all ages comics from Marvel with my kid. I didn’t know beforehand that they were “silent”. And it was such a good reading experience—engaging, interesting to watch them take it in, react, and debrief the stories.

In between alarm snoozes this morning, semi-nightmare influenced by/included Pluribus, UNCG’s campus, a retractable cord for a vacuum or other appliance, and myopia/forgetting to put my glasses on.

Maybe we just attempt to do studies in perpetuity on a massive scale

There are a lot of reasons for the failure of this narrative when it runs up against reality, but I think a lot of it is that we’ve been indoctrinated into this notion that capitalism is somehow inherently rational, which it is not
