Got this far into this project, and I'm having a "what the fuck was I thinking?" moments. It makes so little sense that I'm not even mad. Just... sadly impressed.

Sigh.

Finally figured it out and I am very proud of myself right now. (Just ignore the terrible art -- I needed it for visualizing).

I'm also excited, because this means I can move on to the other part of the game.

You know the part. Who do you think I am?

Okay, one thing I do like about using VS Code with Godot is that it actually treats regions like links in the code map thingie. So I can actually click to where I want to go instead of squinting and guessing. Yay!

Finally giving VS Code a shot, and after a bit of rearranging... I think I'm sold.

I haven't even written a line of code in it yet, but this is already damn-near perfect.

Finally fixed this last big bugs in the game and made it all the way to the end -- where you can save a screenshot of your completed grid if you win.

Gonna do a bit more testing, then make some banners and stuff.

And now we have music and sounds. Still haven't figured out what to put on the loading screen, but I'm working on it.

It seems that I can do a lot in 24 hours.

Yep. It was the effin' screen.

I have not had nearly enough caffeine for that kind of bullshit.

Literally working on screenshots on this #ScreenshotSaturday.

And by working, I mean I'm about to punch something because something is refusing to do what I tell it and screenshot the region that I want it to.

Send ramen.

I remembered a suggestion that was made about Castle Solitaire, and tried my hand as an in-game tutorial.

Fortunately, it's a simple game, but I'm still quite proud of myself. And also quite sleepy.

Oh, boy... This was very satisfying to achieve. But now it's back to work.

So that I can play it again.

I accidentally made an entire game today...

There are few things that I still want to tweak and add and test, but the whole game is there.

Today's been a good day.

Still trying to break this habit, but this is kind of really satisfying to see...

I kind of just go head-down and forget to commit. Or eat.

I should probably stop.

Literally just wanted to make cards move around. I have no idea what's even happening right now.

Probably a good time to go the sleep.

I have to figure out why the controls refuse to stay where they should, but this is all of the progress that I've managed to make today.

And sure, no one told me to design a game with two decks. But well, here we are.

Not sure if I'll be here tomorrow, though.

Here are all of the card-based prototypes that I've made so far this year. After looking at this, I've learned that:

1. There are about five main mechanics that I want to incorporate into a game and make work.
2. I use blue and teal *way* more often in my games than I realized.

Part of me wants to giggle, but the other part is cringing at the fact that there is only one published game in that number...

Sigh.

I've been sitting here mousing and clicking these cards for the last twenty minutes.

So fun.

But I should probably move on to all the other stuff that I need to do for this project. Whoops.

You know what else I like just as much as I like cards and grids?

Maps.

So why not combine all three?

Decided on a whim to change my Godot layout, and now I'm freaking out internally.

But I know that this will be more efficient, instead of going back and forth across my entire screen, so I don't want to immediately change it back.

Help.

Today's prototype: another version of this idea that I can't seem to let go of.

Really wish I could figure out why I'm so obsessed with moving cards around a grid...

Yeah... Doesn't look like I'll be getting the full loop implemented tonight. There's way too much to do -- and I keep stopping to throw art together for it.

I wonder how far I can get with this before I lose my will to li--look at it.

December 9, 2025 at 5:41 AM
There. That's the look we're going with. Because I'm pretty sure no one will play this game either.
December 8, 2025 at 4:42 AM
I know that it's partially my own fault with all of my regions and comments and empty functions that I might need, but this one script is nearly 600 lines long. And that's *after* splitting it into two.

I... I'm not loving it. Hmm...

Made my prototype even more fun -- now you can buy stacks that allow you to place cards in either descending or ascending order.

Should probably put those in a scrolling container, now that I think about it.

Then I might do something about the visuals...

Spent the morning fixing all of the bugs that my sleepy ass put in the code last night, as well as changing and adding mechanics. Also, this little drawer is cute.

Not sure what I want to do with this, but it's interesting. Well, to me, at least.
