Finally figured it out and I am very proud of myself right now. (Just ignore the terrible art -- I needed it for visualizing).

I'm also excited, because this means I can move on to the other part of the game.

You know the part. Who do you think I am?

Okay, one thing I do like about using VS Code with Godot is that it actually treats regions like links in the code map thingie. So I can actually click to where I want to go instead of squinting and guessing. Yay!

I like grids a lot. Very organized. Very pleasing. Nice to put things in.

Which is why I find it extremely irritating that the thing that I'm trying to do with this particular grid requires so much goddamned math. Ugh!!

I'm trying to code something that I've never attempted before, and it's interesting trying to wrap my head around it.

And by 'interesting', I mean I may need to break out my physical blackboard and chalk.

And yes, my new project has a grid. Because of course it does.

Know what else it has?

You know what else it has.

Finally giving VS Code a shot, and after a bit of rearranging... I think I'm sold.

I haven't even written a line of code in it yet, but this is already damn-near perfect.

Well that was a very productive 38 hours. And now I can say that I've published *two* games this year.

Excuse me while I go giggle in the corner.

Finally fixed this last big bugs in the game and made it all the way to the end -- where you can save a screenshot of your completed grid if you win.

Gonna do a bit more testing, then make some banners and stuff.

I really wish that I could open a second Script tab in Godot and put them next to each other.

Or even being able to put the Script tab next to the game or 2D tab would be good.

Actually, both. Both would be great.

And now we have music and sounds. Still haven't figured out what to put on the loading screen, but I'm working on it.

It seems that I can do a lot in 24 hours.

You know, if I can find music and sound effects to put in this game in the next hour, I will have essentially built this entire game in 24 hours.

It's like my brain secretly held a game jam or something.

I just realized why my screenshots aren't lining up correctly, and if I'm understanding this correctly, I feel like that is the dumbest fucking reason it could be:

Rects can resize with the screen, but their actual value don't change?

Ugh. Now I have to do math?!?

Literally working on screenshots on this #ScreenshotSaturday.

And by working, I mean I'm about to punch something because something is refusing to do what I tell it and screenshot the region that I want it to.

Send ramen.

I remembered a suggestion that was made about Castle Solitaire, and tried my hand as an in-game tutorial.

Fortunately, it's a simple game, but I'm still quite proud of myself. And also quite sleepy.

Oh, boy... This was very satisfying to achieve. But now it's back to work.

So that I can play it again.

I accidentally made an entire game today...

There are few things that I still want to tweak and add and test, but the whole game is there.

Today's been a good day.

Still trying to break this habit, but this is kind of really satisfying to see...

I kind of just go head-down and forget to commit. Or eat.

I should probably stop.

Literally just wanted to make cards move around. I have no idea what's even happening right now.

Probably a good time to go the sleep.

I have to figure out why the controls refuse to stay where they should, but this is all of the progress that I've managed to make today.

And sure, no one told me to design a game with two decks. But well, here we are.

Not sure if I'll be here tomorrow, though.

I've only written a little under a thousand lines of code today, and yet I'm ready to burn this project to the ground and never touch it again.

Over half of it is one fucking script.

I'm so tired.

Well, that turned out to be a lot easier than I expected.
Hooray for Game Devs Past.
I need to figure out how to automate resource creation from a CSV file in Godot.

That would save me so many headaches.

Here are all of the card-based prototypes that I've made so far this year. After looking at this, I've learned that:

1. There are about five main mechanics that I want to incorporate into a game and make work.
2. I use blue and teal *way* more often in my games than I realized.

Part of me wants to giggle, but the other part is cringing at the fact that there is only one published game in that number...

Sigh.
